DESCRIPTION:Have you been to a rockin’ New Year’s party? A wild wedding? A dinner party that would make Gatsby envious? A party can be a bash for five hundred people\, an intimate dinner for two\, or a solitary dance in the living room. Parties bring together those we love and those we hate\, or maybe a stranger who can change your life in one night. If you have a story about a party\, we want to read it. \nBroad interpretations\, as well as all genres welcome — fiction\, non-fiction\, short play\, or poetry. \nSubmissions accepted from August 1 to August 22.  \nLink to submit via Artwork Archive will be posted here on August 1.\nSetting up a free account on Artwork Archive to submit to calls:\n– Go to the “Writers’ Salon: The Party” Open Call on Artwork Archive. \n– Click on “Submit to Call” button. This will bring you to a page where you can create your free account.\n\nSubmission Guidelines: \nProse: no longer than 700 words\, double spaced\, 12-point font\, and in a Word or PDF document. Work at all stages of development is welcome\, from in-progress to published pieces.\nPoetry: maximum 3 pages.\n\nEligibility Criteria: Submitting writers must identify as women or non-binary. Submitting writers must be 18+. \nFive pieces will be selected from the first twenty-five submissions received by August 22.  \nThe winners will be notified by Thursday September 3 and will read their work at the Writers’ Salon at Yellow Studio\, in person\, on Wednesday\, September 23 at 7pm.

DESCRIPTION:Since June 2025\, Loaf on Paper has been a cozy stationery and café space in the heart of Williamsburg\, built for calm and creativity\, a place to journal\, sip coffee\, and discover a small treasure to take home. It offers a thoughtfully curated collection of Japanese paper goods\, craft supplies\, and unique lifestyle items\, alongside specialty coffee and seasonal baked treats. Now\, in collaboration with Yellow Studio\, a community-driven art gallery and creative hub\, that spirit is moving to the walls. \n\n\nWhimsy isn’t about being silly for silliness’s sake. It’s seeing the world sideways\, finding wonder in the ordinary. As Yayoi Kusama put it: “Polka dots are fabulous.” \n\n\nThat’s the spirit we’re after: artwork that plays\, that surprises\, that lets curiosity lead. \n\n\nWe’re calling for original\, whimsical artwork\, 12 x 12 inches or smaller\, priced at $500 or less. Any medium is welcome\, as long as it feels light\, imaginative\, and true to your voice. \n\n\nAbout Loaf on Paper\nLoaf on Paper is the sister shop of niconeco zakkaya\, nestled in the heart of Williamsburg\, Brooklyn. This cozy stationery and café space offers a thoughtfully curated collection of Japanese paper goods\, craft supplies\, and unique lifestyle items\, alongside specialty coffee and seasonal baked treats. Created by the team behind niconeco zakkaya in the East Village (established online in 2015 and brick-and-mortar in 2019)\, Loaf on Paper is designed to inspire calm and creativity—a welcoming place to journal\, sip tea\, or discover the perfect gift.\n  \n\nSubmissions Open: Wednesday\, August 12\n\nSubmissions Close: Wednesday\, August 26 \nVenue: Loaf on Paper\n64 Grand St\, Brooklyn\, NY 11249 \n\n\n\nExhibition Format: This is a retail exhibition where selected artworks will be available for immediate purchase and pickup. Unlike traditional gallery shows\, this is an ongoing exhibition integrated into a retail environment. \nExhibition Dates: October 3\, 2026 to January 17\, 2027 \n\n\nDisplay Rotation: Accepted works may rotate in and out of display as pieces sell and new work is displayed. Wall sculptures permitted\, maximum depth of 4 inches.  \nYour Submission Must Include: \n\n\n1-3 artwork images\nArtist Statement tailored to your submitted artwork\nArtist Bio\nSubmissions without a statement or bio will not be considered\nSubmissions will only be accepted through the Artwork Archive open call.
