During our visit\, Jessica will explain and show her detailed artwork process\, from initial inspiration\, sketches\, color palette development to final painting. All an extension from her training and professional background as an interior architect. She will dive into her archived files from her past paintings and commissions from her notebook sketches as well as some paintings that are currently in the works. This visit will give the Art Club a glimpse into the layered approach to her compositions that spark memory\, feelings and depth. \nJessica invites the Art Club into her home studio in Tarrytown\, NY which reflects her personality and design style. Jessica’s address will be provided upon RSVP.  \n*This event is rescheduled from Friday December 19 at 10am  \nAbout Jessica Porter \nJessica Porter is an abstract painter based in Tarrytown\, NY with an extensive background in art and the interior design and architecture industry. She creates abstract landscape paintings that draw inspiration from places that are familiar to a viewer but create an unknown experience. The landscapes are her perspective of architecture and nature\, that explore feelings and mood as well as sparking memory and inspiration. She has a passion for color and creates unique color palettes in each painting that bring a dramatic focus to a space. Every piece has metallic layers that play with the natural light within a space that further explores color and dimension.

In this hands-on beginner workshop\, artist and printmaker Allison Belolan will guide you through a drawing-based printmaking technique pioneered by Paul Gauguin and used by contemporary artists like Tracy Emin. \nNo experience required – just bring your curiosity and openness to play. Learn the intimate process of trace monotype as you create drawings on an inked plate\, then transfer your marks onto paper through gentle pressure and touch. \nAllison will walk you through each step\, from inking your plate to making drawings with pencils\, styluses\, or even your fingers. This accessible technique bridges the immediacy of drawing with the distinctive character of printmaking\, allowing your personal mark-making to shine through delicate\, one of a kind images. \nYou’ll leave with your own plexi plate\, a collection of trace monotypes\, and the knowledge to continue exploring this technique at home or incorporate it into your existing creative practice. \nJoin us on the evening of January 29 at the Yellow Studio to discover the expressive possibilities of trace monotype printmaking. \nThis paid workshop is open to any woman interested in learning about the monotype process\, and is limited to 12 participants. \n  \nAbout Allison Belolan \nAllison is a curiosity-driven\, multidisciplinary artist whose practice is influenced by observations\, documentation\, and research of her surroundings. Allison’s work has been featured in US galleries and art fairs\, including the Every Woman Biennial and The Gallery at Yellow Studio. A Rhode Island School of Design graduate in Printmaking (2001)\, Allison later earned a Master’s in Teaching Art Education from the School of Visual Arts (2009). All are welcome. \nAbout the Exhibition \nThe Gallery at Yellow Studio presents Boundaries\, a group exhibition bringing together four women artists whose conceptually driven practices explore the spaces where systems break down\, blur\, or transform. Through photography\, drawing\, printmaking\, and mixed media\, Beth Dary\, Amy Kupferberg\, Rita Maas\, and Mary Negro each use abstraction as a tool to process complexity\, whether examining information systems\, environmental change\, material transformation\, or the uncertainties of contemporary life.  \nThe exhibition runs from January 10 through February 8\, 2026 \nTogether\, these artists reveal how abstraction becomes a language for understanding our increasingly complex world\, where familiar systems no longer hold\, and new forms emerge from breakdown and transformation. Beth Dary examines the liminal space between nature untouched by human intervention and the “new nature” we create\, drawing inspiration from environmental phenomena like CO2 bubbles in Arctic ice and fractal patterns in urban runoff. Amy Kupferberg transforms discarded materials into handmade paper\, using repetitive mark-making as visual affirmation\, exploring replication and regeneration through sustainable practices. Rita Maas constructs imagery within predetermined systems\, embracing chance and disorder while investigating how information is received\, filtered\, and retained. Mary Negro’s intuitive abstract drawings reflect mental space as she sorts through unknowns\, thinking about climate change\, the American political landscape\, and the physics of the universe. \nAbout the Artists \nBeth Dary holds a BFA from Syracuse University and an MFA from Memphis College of Art. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is included in private\, corporate\, and museum collections in the USA and Europe. She has received grants from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and The Manhattan Community Arts Fund\, and fellowships through Yaddo and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. \nAmy Kupferberg earned her BA from Bard College and her MFA from Pratt Institute. Her work has been exhibited in solo shows at Pratt Institute\, Saint Peter’s Church in NYC\, and Gallery In The Square in Texas\, and in group exhibitions including Miami ArtBasel Wynwood Lofts. Kupferberg lives and works in the Mid-Hudson Valley. \nRita Maas is a visual artist working in photography\, drawing\, and printmaking. A 2023 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellow in Printmaking/Drawing/Book Arts\, her work is included in collections at the Museum of Fine Arts\, Houston\, The Center for Creative Photography in Tucson\, and The Griffin Museum of Photography. Maas lives and works in the Hudson Valley\, NY. \nMary Negro creates abstract drawings and mixed media collages inspired by current events in America. Her work has been exhibited at the Frances M. Maguire Art Museum at Saint Joseph’s University\, the Ely Center for Contemporary Art\, and Ground Floor Gallery in Brooklyn. She holds a BA in Art History and Visual Arts from Fordham University and an MA in Art Market Studies from FIT\, and lives and works in New York.

Solomon’s practice draws from environmental elements in nature to create rhythmic and fractalized patterns that invite quiet reflection and ground viewers in the present moment. All are welcome.  \n  \nABOUT THE ARTISTS \nSonjie Feliciano Solomon is a Brooklyn-based visual artist whose practice centers on creating work that balances the tangibility of experience with the intangibility of emotion. Born in Manila\, Philippines\, and raised in New York and St. Louis\, Solomon earned her BFA with honors in Industrial Design from Rhode Island School of Design and her BSBA from Georgetown University. She has exhibited at the Curator’s Gallery in Chelsea\, the Gwangju Biennale\, the Daegu International Textile Show in Korea\, and the Honolulu Museum of Art. Solomon has been a resident at VCCA (Virginia Center for the Creative Arts) and received a grant from the Urban Artists Initiative. \nAntoinette Wysocki is a New York-based multimedia artist whose work explores abstracted organic forms and microcosmic narratives through layered installations and paintings that balance chance and control. She holds a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. Wysocki has exhibited internationally in over 50 group exhibitions and more than 10 solo shows across major art centers\, including New York\, London\, Hong Kong\, Seoul\, Dubai\, and Los Angeles\, participating in key fairs such as The Armory Show\, Context Miami\, and Kiaf Seoul. DESCRIPTION:Join us for live music with Julie Rosenberg and Sam Popkin in The Co-Op at Yellow Studio on Thursday February 26\, 6 to 7:30pm. \nAs accomplished musicians\, Julie and Sam began their friendship out of their mutual and infinite love of guitars. In this collaboration they bring together their styles of playing to the stage\, in a special collaboration that will include music from their favorite bands that will include The Who\, The Beatles\, and Led Zeppelin. \nLight refreshments will be available. \nJulie Rosenberg is a guitarist whose passion for the instrument began at age nine\, the first time she held one in her hands. Growing up\, she played lead guitar and drums in multiple bands and later studied jazz guitar in college as a BFA major before ultimately switching to physical therapy. Today\, she performs as guitarist in her trio\, Reservoir Road Band\, collaborates with other musicians\, and also performs solo. Her early musical influences include Jimi Hendrix\, Jimmy Page\, Carlos Santana\, as well as\, the rhythmic and iconic sounds of disco and pop. Her improvisational\, spontaneous playing style reflects her passion for abstract art as a painter\, along with her deep\, long-standing appreciation for jazz and rock music. \nSam Popkin is a New York based guitarist\, audio-engineer and multi-instrumentalist. He specializes in learning songs by ear\, breaking them down note-for-note\, while using vintage accurate gear. \nCome visit the new Gear Wall at The Co-Op at Yellow Studio and welcome our latest vendor\, Julie Rosenberg Guitar. \n\n\nRSVP strongly suggested below. All are welcome. \n  \nAbout Julie Rosenberg Guitar\nJulie Rosenberg is a Katonah\, NY-based musician and artist who owns a business that sells her brand of hand-painted\, one-of-a-kind electric guitars\, and accessories. Her customers are guitarists and collectors that span across the United States. Products that she creates and sells on her website range from electric guitars and pickguards to GuitarGrips and other parts of guitars. Julie plays guitar in the community in her trio called\, Reservoir Road Band\, and other musicians\, also as a solo performer.⁠\n⁠\nAs a vendor in The Co-Op at Yellow Studio\, Julie is excited to bring her products to life in an up-close and in-person local setting. From January through March\, 2026\, Julie will offer a variety of her products over three themed months\, for example\, January is Pickguard Central and currently features acoustic and electric pickguards\, and an electric guitar with one of her hand-painted pickguards. DESCRIPTION:The Gallery at Yellow Studio presents Multitudes\, a group exhibition featuring Allison Belolan\, Dorian Goldman\, Anne Pollard James\, and Angela Strassheim\, on view March 21 through April 19\, 2026. The exhibition brings together painting\, photography\, printmaking\, and sculpture to examine how women perceive themselves and their bodies\, and how others perceive them. The works investigate the many versions of ourselves that exist simultaneously: the self we know\, the self others see\, the roles we inhabit\, and the experiences we share. Join us for an opening reception on Saturday\, March 21\, from 4 to 6pm.  \nThrough diverse mediums and approaches\, the four artists reclaim autonomy and ownership of representation\, pushing back against idealized expectations and centering regular bodies as sites of strength and transformation. Anne Pollard James presents bold works that shift between confrontation and quiet negotiation. Allison Belolan’s layered monotypes and collages on handmade paper examine shared bodily experiences\, deliberately breaking from classical conventions. Angela Strassheim\, an internationally recognized photographer\, explores the performative aspects of photography while challenging traditional ways of looking at the female form. Dorian Goldman’s clay and bronze sculptures blur the boundary between the anatomical and the organic\, drawing connections between the female body and forms in nature. Together\, these artists create a powerful conversation about reclaiming the gaze and the right to take up space without apology. \n  \nABOUT THE ARTISTS \nAllison Belolan is a Mamaroneck\, New York-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice is influenced by observations\, documentation\, and research of her surroundings. She earned her BFA in Printmaking from Rhode Island School of Design and her MA in Teaching Art Education from the School of Visual Arts. Belolan’s work has been featured in galleries including Lichtundfire in New York\, Strata Gallery in Santa Fe\, and The Old Stone House in Brooklyn. She curates at The Idea Kitchen in Larchmont\, NY\, and serves as curatorial associate at Yellow Studio in Cross River\, NY. \nDorian Goldman is a New York-based sculptor whose work explores the intersection between the human form and the natural world through clay\, wood\, marble\, and cast bronze. She earned both a BA/BFA and an MFA in sculpture from the University of Pennsylvania. Goldman’s work has been exhibited at the Japan Society\, the Art Students League of New York\, and the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA)\, among others. In 2026\, she won the sculpture award from NAWA for their Winter Small Works Juried Exhibition. She has completed international residencies in Carrara\, Italy\, and Shigaraki\, Japan. \nAnne Pollard James is an Oklahoma-based contemporary oil painter whose work explores how women thrive in spaces often not made for or by them. With a background in historic preservation in real estate development\, James began painting in 2020 and committed to her art practice full-time in 2022. Her work has been featured in group exhibitions in Oklahoma\, New York City\, and California\, with solo exhibitions at The Price Tower Arts Center and Positive Space Gallery. James founded Carson House Tulsa\, a contemporary gallery\, studio\, and artist residency that centers on women and creative community work. \nAngela Strassheim is an Easton\, Connecticut-based internationally recognized photographer. She holds an MFA from Yale University\, a BFA from Minneapolis College of Art & Design\, and a Forensic Photography Certification from Metro-Dade. Strassheim’s work has been exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum\, the Whitney Museum\, the National Museum of Women in the Arts\, the Art Institute of Chicago\, and the Israel Museum\, among others. SUMMARY:Art Club: Visit to Metro Art Studios
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, April 10\, the Yellow Studio Art Club is heading to Metro Art Studios in Bridgeport\, CT — and we’d love for you to join us! \nWe’ll spend the morning exploring some of the building’s 38 artist studios\, browsing the shop\, and taking in the current exhibition in the Crown Gallery: Twist and Shout. \nTwist and Shout brings together six artists — Alex Ceppi\, John Guzman\, Louisa Pancoast\, Melissa Stern\, Yue Yuan\, and Tamsen Williams — whose figures bend\, twist\, and fracture in ways that communicate what words simply can’t. Rooted in Expressionism and moving fluidly between abstraction and figuration\, the work uses distortion and grotesque caricature as a kind of visual shorthand for emotion\, tension\, and identity. Some pieces lean into dark humor; others are raw and unfiltered. Curator Ellen Hawley weaves it all into a broader conversation about movement\, resilience\, and the expressive power of the human figure. After graduating from the University of Michigan\, Jessica studied at the School of Visual Arts and at the Art Students League in New York\, with legendary painter Hananiah Harari\, later continuing her studies with acclaimed portrait and landscape artist Andrew Lattimore. SUMMARY:Opening Reception: Said in Color featuring Giselle Landers and Alissa Leigh
DESCRIPTION:The Gallery at Yellow Studio presents Said in Color\, an exhibition of paintings and wall relief sculptures by Alissa Leigh and Giselle Landers\, on view April 25 to May 24\, 2025. Color is a language\, and these two abstract painters each speak it with a different accent\, arriving at bold\, expressive work from opposite directions. Join us for the opening reception on Saturday\, April 25\, from 4 to 6pm. RSVPs encouraged.  \nBoth artists draw color inspiration from the everyday world: textiles\, product packaging\, movie posters\, and the textures of city life. Leigh builds her mixed media works around a loosely drawn grid\, layering and scraping surfaces so that earlier marks shape what follows. Landers approaches abstraction through the lens of graphic design\, moving each piece from sketch to digital process before it reaches canvas or three-dimensional form. Her paintings and wall relief sculptures pull from a wide visual archive\, including modernist architecture\, hieroglyphics\, and pop culture imagery. She earned a BFA from Syracuse University and a Graduate Diploma in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Arts in London\, and has exhibited in group shows in London\, New York\, and Connecticut. In 2026\, she was selected for the Canopy Program\, where she mentors under artist Erika Ranee. Landers serves on the board of the Katonah Museum Artists’ Association and lives and works in Greenwich\, Connecticut. \nAlissa Leigh is a mixed media abstract painter based in Bedford\, New York. She has presented solo exhibitions at Chroma Gallery in Katonah\, NY\, shown in group exhibitions throughout the greater New York and Connecticut area\, and has exhibited in the  Armonk Outdoor Art Show for three consecutive years. Her work is held in private collections across the United States and Europe.

This workshop is meant to follow Karen’s recent Knitting Workshop where participants made their first hats. If you did not complete that workshop and are new to knitting\, you may sign up for this workshop and create a hat. Questions? Just ask!  \nOver three carefully designed sessions (April 8\, April 15 and April 29)\, you’ll learn everything you need to create your very first knitted vest—from casting on your first stitch to joining the shoulders of your finished masterpiece. DESCRIPTION:Join the Yellow Studio Nature & Sustainability Club on Wednesday\, May 13 at 6pm for Re-Wilding Workshop: Weave\, Gather\, Create with Rebecca Rivard. This hands-on outdoor workshop is centered on creativity\, sustainability\, and connection to the natural world. \nSet against the landscape of Ward Pound Ridge\, this special gathering invites you to slow down and create a small woven pouch using thrifted and secondhand yarns and fibers\, along with simple recycled cardboard looms. \n As part of the experience\, we’ll spend time exploring and gently foraging for natural materials—twigs\, grasses\, leaves\, and found elements—that can be woven into your piece or used as unique closures and finishing details. \nInspired by the idea of re-wilding\, this workshop encourages a return to intuitive making\, using what is around us and reimagining discarded materials with care and creativity. No prior weaving experience is needed—just a willingness to explore\, experiment\, and connect. \nParticipants will leave with a one-of-a-kind woven pouch and a renewed appreciation for the beauty of natural and repurposed materials. \n  \nAbout Rebecca Rivard \nRebecca Rivard is a multidisciplinary artist\, painter\, and composer working across paint\, sound\, and mixed media. Rooted in experimentation and intuitive process\, her work often incorporates natural and repurposed materials\, guided in part by an interest in “rewilding”\, returning materials and methods to a more tactile\, instinctive state. She brings this same spirit of curiosity and openness into her workshops\, encouraging participants to explore\, experiment\, and engage with materials in new ways.

DESCRIPTION:The Gallery at Yellow Studio invited women and non-binary artists to submit work that challenges conventional perceptions of fiber art. We selected work demonstrating innovative approaches that expand the medium’s possibilities; work that complicates boundaries between decoration and concept\, tradition and innovation\, or material and meaning. This exhibition showcases fiber art as a site of experimentation\, examining how artists reimagine thread\, fabric\, rope\, and other fibrous materials as vehicles for critical inquiry\, spatial intervention\, technological integration\, or performative practice. \nMore information coming soon.
