Allison’s work has been featured in US galleries and art fairs\, including the 2024 Every Woman Biennial and Bruce Museum Fine Arts Fair. A Rhode Island School of Design graduate in Printmaking (2001)\, Allison later earned a Master’s in Teaching Art Education from the School of Visual Arts (2009). She taught art until 2019 and now creates from her Mamaroneck\, New York home studio. Allison collaborates with individual collectors\, curators\, and industry professionals on commissions\, wholesale\, and licensing projects. For more information\, visit www.allisonbelolan.com \nJulia Berkely \nJulia Berkeley is a painter based in Ridgefield\, CT. After earning her BA in Studio Art at Loyola University of Maryland\, she began working in fashion designing women’s prints and textiles at Ralph Lauren. This environment was enriching and thrilling watching her work come to fruition. What she loved most was working alongside creatives\, immersed in a visual world of storytelling. Julia now paints full time exhibiting in various group and solo shows in galleries\, art centers and storefronts. Her practice and application of art making have evolved over the years as she strives to create with purpose. Each environment\, experience\, relationship\, or encounter has a role in shifting Julia’s attention. \nGiselle Landers \nIn colorful\, expressive paintings of intertwining marks and shapes\, Giselle Landers explores applying structure to irregular forms. Giselle’s experience as a graphic designer deeply informs her practice. Embracing organic and figurative references\, Giselle’s art engages with action painting\, color field painting\, and graffiti without adhering to any singular artistic movement. Inspiration comes from a broad range of subjects: modernism\, hieroglyphics\, typography\, and ancient art; ultimately reflecting her own vocabulary of visual language. Giselle earned a BFA from Syracuse University and worked as a graphic designer in New York City for many years. In 2007 she moved to London with her husband and three young boys. While in London\, Giselle studied drawing and printmaking at The Royal Drawing School and earned a Graduate Diploma in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art. Giselle’s work has been exhibited in group shows in London\, New York and Connecticut. Recently\, Giselle completed a residency at Yellow Studio in Cross River\, NY where she focused on her love of palm trees and tropical flora. She is currently a board member of the Katonah Museum Artists’ Association. Giselle lives and works in Greenwich\, CT. \nJamie Cook Simon \nJamie Cook Simon (born 1976 in Washington D.C.) is a figurative and landscape painter working in oil\, acrylic\, ink and charcoal. With a love of color\, Jamie works to reflect her own experiences as an artist and mother and the deep emotions of the growth of these two identities. Jamie studied at Parsons School of Design\, the National Academy of Design in New York City from 2000-2004\, and UCLA from 2005-2009. After mentoring with the artist Joe Blaustein in Los Angeles\, Jamie continued to make her work while raising her four children. She happily moved back to the east coast in 2023. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Intro to Encaustic Photography Workshop with Rebecca Dunn
DESCRIPTION:This beginner’s Encaustic Photography Workshop is a great introduction if you have never worked with encaustic wax before or if you’ve worked with wax but haven’t tried incorporating photos into your work. \nDuring Rebecca Dunn‘s\, 2.5 hour\, hands on workshop\, each participant will have time to work on 3 of their own photographs that have been mounted to 5 x 7” wood panels.  The workshop will focus on prepping your photos properly\, layering the wax on\, adding color\, and techniques for making texture\, as well as where to find materials. \nAfter registering please email rebeccadunnart@gmail.com 3 photos you would like to work with\,  landscape photos are recommended\, the photos will be mounted onto a wood board ahead of time and be ready to work on for class.  If you do not have photos\, we can provide a few to choose from. \nAll supplies will be provided but please bring anything you may want to experiment with. \nWorkshop limited to 8 participants. 18+ \n \nRebecca Dunn’s Art \nMy work is deeply influenced by my love for fiction\, hiking to ruins\, painting\, and mushroom hunting—each of these passions fuels the magical\, whimsical quality that defines my art. As a child\, I often dreamed of stepping through portals into other worlds\, and as an adult\, I collect images of stone windows and mystical places to combine them into my own imagined portals. The encaustic medium\, with its ethereal quality and unpredictable nature\, adds a layer of magic to my work\, giving it a tactile\, sculptural feel. \nrebeccadunnart.com\nIG @rebeccadunnart

SUMMARY:Artist Talk: From Within featuring Rebecca Rivard
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday April 5 at 2pm to learn more about the artistic practice\, process\, influences and more of Rebecca Rivard. \n  \nAbout the Exhibition \nThe Gallery at Yellow Studio presents “From Within\,” a compelling solo exhibition by mixed-media artist Rebecca Rivard. Running March 22 through April 18\, 2025\, this intimate showcase explores themes of transformation and self-discovery through works that peel back layers to reveal the profound beauty of our inner worlds. \nIn this evocative body of work\, Rivard masterfully navigates the terrain between external expression and internal reflection. Drawing inspiration from nature’s rhythms and patterns\, she builds richly textured surfaces through multiple layers of acrylic paint and precise linework on various substrates including wood panels and paper that pulse with inner vitality. Like geological formations that hold the story of time within their strata\, her works reveal the accumulated wisdom of experience\, inviting viewers to discover the profound beauty beneath surface appearances and connect with their path of personal evolution. \nView and purchase artwork from the exhibition here. From the Collections dropdown menu please select “From Within.” \n  \n \nABOUT THE ARTIST \nRebecca Rivard creates richly layered mixed-media compositions inspired by nature’s rhythms\, exploring the relationship between sound\, texture\, and visual storytelling. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst (BFA)\, she further developed her practice through studies in digital music production and composition at Juilliard’s Evening Division. Raised in a home where artistry was encouraged\, she was immersed in a world where expression had no boundaries. This rich foundation led her to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst\, where she honed her skills and began defining her artistic voice. \nThroughout her career\, Rebecca has embraced a variety of creative roles. She has developed a wide array of arts programs for children\, led hands on workshops for teachers\, and shared her passion for music with countless piano students through her teaching studio. These diverse experiences have enriched her understanding of the interplay between art\, music\, and human connection\, shaping the multifaceted artist she is today. \nRebecca finds profound meaning in the act of revealing her inner world through art. Much of her time is spent in quiet reflection\, often in the company of nature\, where she draws inspiration from the intricate beauty and rhythms of the natural world. These moments provide a space to weave together memories\, experiences\, and observations into a rich tapestry of thoughts and ideas. This internal process inspired the rebranding of her online presence to Innerworkingart\, a name that underscores her commitment to making the internal visible—not just her own\, but as an invitation for others to pause and connect with their own inner worlds. \nAbout Tina Villaveces: \nTina Villaveces is a recent Brooklyn transplant who has dedicated the majority of her career to the arts. SUMMARY:Book Club: Self-Portrait with Nothing by Aimee Pokwatka
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Book Club at Bedford Books on Tuesday March 25 at 6:30pm to discuss Self-Portrait with Nothing by Aimee Pokwatka\, current Yellow Studio Author-in-Residence. There will be lively discussion\, questions posed and answered and time to connect with fellow YS Members…and the author herself! That’s right\, Aimee will be joining us in-person for Book Club. \nThis is a zero pressure book club – didn’t quite finish the book? Come anyway. \nHosted by Fran Hauser & Emily Winograd Leonard \nLight refreshments will be available. \nMember RSVP required. \nThis book is sold out at Bedford Books! But you can purchase the book online here and have it shipped to you.  \n  \nAbout the Book \nOrphan Black meets Fringe in a story that reminds us that living our best life sometimes means embracing the imperfect one we already have. \n“Fraught and deeply moving…the work of a genuinely exciting new talent.” —Booker Prize winner\, George Saunders. \n“Aimee Pokwatka’s Self-Portrait with Nothing is tantalizing and elusive lacework\, delicately balanced between the branches of fantasy\, mystery and realism like a spider’s web.” —The New York Times\n\nIf a picture paints a thousand worlds . . . \nAbandoned as an infant on the local veterinarian’s front porch\, Pepper Rafferty was raised by two loving mothers\, and now\, at thirty-six is married to the stable\, supportive Ike. She’s never told anyone that at fifteen she discovered the identity of her biological mother. \nThat’s because her birth mother is Ula Frost\, a reclusive painter famous for the outrageous claims that her portraits summon their subjects’ doppelgängers from parallel universes. \nResearching the rumors\, Pepper couldn’t help but wonder: Is there a parallel universe in which she is more confident\, more accomplished\, better able to accept love? \nA universe in which Ula decided she was worth keeping? \nA universe in which Ula’s rejection didn’t still hurt too much to share? \nCombining a thrilling pan-continental race against time with an authentic and touching personal drama\, Self-Portrait with Nothing is an unforgettable debut that explores what it means to be part of a family. \nAbout the Author \nAimee Pokwatka grew up in Wheeling\, West Virginia. She studied anthropology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro\, and received her MFA in creative writing from Syracuse University. Her debut novel\, Self-Portrait with Nothing was published in 2022 to wide acclaim. Her work has been published in Fairy Tale Review\, Outlook Springs\, Hunger Mountain\, and elsewhere. She lives in New York with her family. \n  \nLocation: \nBedford Books \n13 Court Rd \nBedford\, NY 10506

SUMMARY:Lost and Found Artists' Talk: Carol Bouyoucos and Tina Scepanovic
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday March 8 at 2pm to learn more about the artistic practices\, process\, influences and more of Carol Bouyoucos and Tina Scepanovic. \n  \nAbout the Exhibition \nThe Gallery at Yellow Studio presents “Lost and Found\,” a dynamic two-person exhibition featuring artists Carol Bouyoucos and Tina Scepanovic. On view February 15 to March 14\, this thoughtfully curated show explores the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and technological innovation\, as the artists move in opposite yet complementary directions; one mining the richness of historical techniques\, the other pioneering new digital territories. \nThrough this compelling pairing\, Scepanovic resurrects traditional processes and forgotten materials\, working with centuries-old water gilding techniques and transforming vintage glass to create contemporary meaning from the past. In contrast\, Bouyoucos pushes into future realms through post-photographic explorations\, employing artificial intelligence and digital tools to reshape our visual understanding of the natural world. Together\, their works demonstrate how contemporary art can simultaneously honor historical methods while embracing emerging technologies\, creating a rich dialogue between what is lost to time and what is found through innovation. \nView and purchase artwork from the exhibition here. From the Collections dropdown menu please select “Lost and Found.” \n  \nABOUT THE ARTISTS \nCarol Bouyoucos is a contemporary American artist exploring the intersection between nature and technology. Her digital photographic works evoke the romanticism and nostalgia of nineteenth-century painting\, though created with distinctly 21st-century tools. Based at Meadowside Cottage at the Marsh Sanctuary in Mount Kisco\, NY\, Bouyoucos has exhibited her work internationally and is actively involved in local art communities\, museums\, and the Bedford Garden Club. She holds a BFA from The University of Michigan’s School of Art and Design. Learn more at carolgreenanbouyoucos.com. \nTina Scepanovic is a Chinese American artist known for innovative fusion of historical techniques with contemporary design. Drawing from her background in furniture restoration\, she transforms vintage materials and employs traditional processes like Renaissance-era water gilding in her sculptures and installations. Trained at the Isabel O’Neil Studio in NYC and under master gilder Charles Douglas\, Scepanovic’s work has been exhibited at prestigious venues including Salon Art + Design and The Painting Center\, featured in the New York Times\, and collected internationally.
