DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday May 31 at 2pm to learn more about the artistic practice\, process\, influences and more of Megan Cedro and Cameron Goodyear. \nAll are welcome. Please RSVP below.  \nAbout the Exhibition \nThe Gallery at Yellow Studio presents “You Will Return to You\,” an exhibition exploring themes of growth and reconnection through the works of artists Megan Cedro and Cameron Goodyear. Running April 26 through May 31\, 2025\, this thoughtfully paired show examines how women artists interpret the natural cycles of leaving and returning that shape our lives. Cedro’s expressive figures and Goodyear’s dreamlike landscapes offer complementary visions of this journey. \nThe exhibition creates a natural dialogue between Cedro’s haunting figures and Goodyear’s evocative botanical scenes. Cedro’s women emerge as powerful symbols of growth and self-discovery\, their penetrating gazes inviting viewers to recognize aspects of themselves they may have forgotten. Meanwhile\, Goodyear’s landscapes capture nature’s endless cycles of renewal\, using color and light to transform familiar settings into spaces where viewers can find their way back to essential truths. Their complementary approaches offer a rich exploration of coming full circle. Together\, these artists celebrate the profound ways women and nature embody the journey of departure and return. Together\, these artists invite viewers to witness the ever-changing relationships between humanity\, nature\, and our evolving understanding of both. \nView and purchase artwork from the exhibition here. From the Collections dropdown menu please select “You Will Return to You.” \n  \nMegan Cedro is a self-taught\, Bedford-based artist whose highly expressive and haunting images have captivated viewers for nearly 15 years. With a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design and background as a MAC makeup artist\, Cedro brings a unique perspective to her paintings\, having initially started her artistic journey using actual makeup as the medium. SUMMARY:Intro to Encaustic Photography Workshop with Rebecca Dunn
DESCRIPTION:This beginner’s Encaustic Photography Workshop is a great introduction if you have never worked with encaustic wax before or if you’ve worked with wax but haven’t tried incorporating photos into your work. \nDuring Rebecca Dunn‘s\, 2.5 hour\, hands on workshop\, each participant will have time to work on 3 of their own photographs that have been mounted to 5 x 7” wood panels.  The workshop will focus on prepping your photos properly\, layering the wax on\, adding color\, and techniques for making texture\, as well as where to find materials. \nAfter registering please email rebeccadunnart@gmail.com 3 photos you would like to work with\,  landscape photos are recommended\, the photos will be mounted onto a wood board ahead of time and be ready to work on for class.  If you do not have photos\, we can provide a few to choose from. \nAll supplies will be provided but please bring anything you may want to experiment with. \nWorkshop limited to 8 participants. 18+ \n \nRebecca Dunn’s Art \nMy work is deeply influenced by my love for fiction\, hiking to ruins\, painting\, and mushroom hunting—each of these passions fuels the magical\, whimsical quality that defines my art. As a child\, I often dreamed of stepping through portals into other worlds\, and as an adult\, I collect images of stone windows and mystical places to combine them into my own imagined portals. The encaustic medium\, with its ethereal quality and unpredictable nature\, adds a layer of magic to my work\, giving it a tactile\, sculptural feel. \nrebeccadunnart.com\nIG @rebeccadunnart

SUMMARY:Artist Talk: From Within featuring Rebecca Rivard
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday April 5 at 2pm to learn more about the artistic practice\, process\, influences and more of Rebecca Rivard. \n  \nAbout the Exhibition \nThe Gallery at Yellow Studio presents “From Within\,” a compelling solo exhibition by mixed-media artist Rebecca Rivard. Running March 22 through April 18\, 2025\, this intimate showcase explores themes of transformation and self-discovery through works that peel back layers to reveal the profound beauty of our inner worlds. \nIn this evocative body of work\, Rivard masterfully navigates the terrain between external expression and internal reflection. Drawing inspiration from nature’s rhythms and patterns\, she builds richly textured surfaces through multiple layers of acrylic paint and precise linework on various substrates including wood panels and paper that pulse with inner vitality. Like geological formations that hold the story of time within their strata\, her works reveal the accumulated wisdom of experience\, inviting viewers to discover the profound beauty beneath surface appearances and connect with their path of personal evolution. \nView and purchase artwork from the exhibition here. From the Collections dropdown menu please select “From Within.” \n  \n \nABOUT THE ARTIST \nRebecca Rivard creates richly layered mixed-media compositions inspired by nature’s rhythms\, exploring the relationship between sound\, texture\, and visual storytelling. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst (BFA)\, she further developed her practice through studies in digital music production and composition at Juilliard’s Evening Division. Her signature project\, “52songsforu\,” exemplifies her interdisciplinary approach\, combining original musical compositions with video art. Rivard’s work\, influenced by her deep involvement with the Yellow Studio community\, investigates themes of transformation and self-discovery. Her work has been recognized with an award from Carriage Barn Arts Center\, and exhibitions at Bethany Arts Center\, The Gallery at Yellow Studio\, and the Bedford Art Crawl. An active leader in Westchester’s artistic community\, Rivard serves on the Katonah Museum Artists’ Association board and is a core member of Yellow Studio\, where she creates and collaborates. Raised in a home where artistry was encouraged\, she was immersed in a world where expression had no boundaries. This rich foundation led her to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst\, where she honed her skills and began defining her artistic voice. \nThroughout her career\, Rebecca has embraced a variety of creative roles. She has developed a wide array of arts programs for children\, led hands on workshops for teachers\, and shared her passion for music with countless piano students through her teaching studio. These diverse experiences have enriched her understanding of the interplay between art\, music\, and human connection\, shaping the multifaceted artist she is today. \nRebecca finds profound meaning in the act of revealing her inner world through art. Much of her time is spent in quiet reflection\, often in the company of nature\, where she draws inspiration from the intricate beauty and rhythms of the natural world. These moments provide a space to weave together memories\, experiences\, and observations into a rich tapestry of thoughts and ideas. This internal process inspired the rebranding of her online presence to Innerworkingart\, a name that underscores her commitment to making the internal visible—not just her own\, but as an invitation for others to pause and connect with their own inner worlds. \nAbout Tina Villaveces: \nTina Villaveces is a recent Brooklyn transplant who has dedicated the majority of her career to the arts. Having spent almost a decade working in commercial art galleries and museums in NYC\, she has a deep appreciation for those who create and a strong sense of commitment for authenticity. SUMMARY:Book Club: Self-Portrait with Nothing by Aimee Pokwatka
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Book Club at Bedford Books on Tuesday March 25 at 6:30pm to discuss Self-Portrait with Nothing by Aimee Pokwatka\, current Yellow Studio Author-in-Residence. There will be lively discussion\, questions posed and answered and time to connect with fellow YS Members…and the author herself! That’s right\, Aimee will be joining us in-person for Book Club. \nThis is a zero pressure book club – didn’t quite finish the book? Come anyway. \nHosted by Fran Hauser & Emily Winograd Leonard \nLight refreshments will be available. \nMember RSVP required. \nThis book is sold out at Bedford Books! But you can purchase the book online here and have it shipped to you.  \n  \nAbout the Book \nOrphan Black meets Fringe in a story that reminds us that living our best life sometimes means embracing the imperfect one we already have. \n“Fraught and deeply moving…the work of a genuinely exciting new talent.” —Booker Prize winner\, George Saunders. \n“Aimee Pokwatka’s Self-Portrait with Nothing is tantalizing and elusive lacework\, delicately balanced between the branches of fantasy\, mystery and realism like a spider’s web.” —The New York Times\n\nIf a picture paints a thousand worlds . . . \nAbandoned as an infant on the local veterinarian’s front porch\, Pepper Rafferty was raised by two loving mothers\, and now\, at thirty-six is married to the stable\, supportive Ike. She’s never told anyone that at fifteen she discovered the identity of her biological mother. \nThat’s because her birth mother is Ula Frost\, a reclusive painter famous for the outrageous claims that her portraits summon their subjects’ doppelgängers from parallel universes. \nResearching the rumors\, Pepper couldn’t help but wonder: Is there a parallel universe in which she is more confident\, more accomplished\, better able to accept love? \nA universe in which Ula decided she was worth keeping? \nA universe in which Ula’s rejection didn’t still hurt too much to share? \nCombining a thrilling pan-continental race against time with an authentic and touching personal drama\, Self-Portrait with Nothing is an unforgettable debut that explores what it means to be part of a family. \nAbout the Author \nAimee Pokwatka grew up in Wheeling\, West Virginia. She studied anthropology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro\, and received her MFA in creative writing from Syracuse University. Her debut novel\, Self-Portrait with Nothing was published in 2022 to wide acclaim. Her work has been published in Fairy Tale Review\, Outlook Springs\, Hunger Mountain\, and elsewhere. She lives in New York with her family. \n  \nLocation: \nBedford Books \n13 Court Rd \nBedford\, NY 10506
