He’s a loner\, awkward and obsessive; she’s charismatic and ambitious. But they share a horror of wasting their lives. And they dream – as we all dream – of running away from it all. What if they quit their jobs\, sold their house\, bought a boat\, and sailed away? \nMost of us begin and end with the daydream. But in June 1972\, Maurice and Maralyn set sail. DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday October 25 for this unique opportunity – to have your portrait painted by local Artist Jessica Miller.\n \nEach 7 x 5 inch expressionist portrait will capture the subject’s likeness and mood\, painted in one half-hour sitting.\n \nAll are welcome to sit for a portrait\, including children accompanied by an adult.\n \nEach portrait is $250.\n \nThere will be 6 portrait sessions. \n \nPlease register below.\n\n \nAbout Jessica Miller\nOriginally from northern Michigan\, Jessica now makes her home in the Hudson River Valley. She is best known for her portraits\, recognizable for their expressionist style and vibrant color\, one of which is featured on the cover of the 2023 New York Times bestseller Hello Beautiful. After graduating from the University of Michigan\, Jessica studied at the School of Visual Arts and at the Art Students League in New York\, with legendary painter Hananiah Harari\, later continuing her studies with acclaimed portrait and landscape artist Andrew Lattimore. DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \nWriters’ Salon Theme: Last Light \nCo-hosted by Jessica Rao & Ines Rodrigues \nAs the season changes\, so does the light. Our imagination follows\, the end of longer days\, the beginning of magical times. Beginning\, ending\, continuing. Light and dark\, day and night\, autumn turns to winter. What stories come with that? \nDo you have a story about twilight? Changing light? Final embers or seeds of hope? We want to read it. \nBroad interpretations\, as well as all genres welcome — fiction\, non-fiction\, short play\, poetry. \nSubmissions accepted from September 1 to September 22.  \nSubmission information here. \nFive pieces will be selected from the first twenty-five submissions received by September 22. The winners will read their work at the Writers’ Salon at Yellow Studio\, in person\, on Wednesday\, October 29 at 7pm.
