DESCRIPTION:Looking to connect with nature and other like-minded Yellow Studio women? Then join the Nature & Sustainability Club for an afternoon hike on Friday\, February 21 at 1pm. \nWe’ll be heading to Westmoreland Sanctuary in Mt Kisco for a scenic and serene hike. \nWestmoreland Sanctuary is a cherished not-for-profit nature center and wildlife preserve\, spanning the towns of Bedford\, Mt Kisco and Armonk\, Encompassing 669 acres\, Westmoreland is a sanctuary for both nature enthusiasts and wildlife alike. The 8.5 miles of hiking trails wind through diverse ecosystems where visitors are invited to explore and immerse themselves in the beauty of the natural world. We will enjoy an approximately hour long hike\, including Bechtel Lake\, which has benches and a dock for observing wildlife. \nWe will meet at the Westmoreland Park Natural Science Museum at 1pm.   \n  \nPlease park at the main entrance\, located at: \n260 Chestnut Ridge Road \nMount Kisco\, NY 10549 \n  \nA map for location details and parking lot information will be emailed to the hikers in advance of the hike. On view February 15 to March 14\, this thoughtfully curated show explores the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and technological innovation\, as the artists move in opposite yet complementary directions; one mining the richness of historical techniques\, the other pioneering new digital territories. Join us for an opening reception on Saturday February 22 from 4 to 6pm. \nThrough this compelling pairing\, Scepanovic resurrects traditional processes and forgotten materials\, working with centuries-old water gilding techniques and transforming vintage glass to create contemporary meaning from the past. In contrast\, Bouyoucos pushes into future realms through post-photographic explorations\, employing artificial intelligence and digital tools to reshape our visual understanding of the natural world. Her digital photographic works evoke the romanticism and nostalgia of nineteenth-century painting\, though created with distinctly 21st-century tools. Based at Meadowside Cottage at the Marsh Sanctuary in Mount Kisco\, NY\, Bouyoucos has exhibited her work internationally and is actively involved in local art communities\, museums\, and the Bedford Garden Club. She holds a BFA from The University of Michigan’s School of Art and Design. After attending FIT in New York \,and a subsequent successful career in fashion\, Suzie decided to pursue her passion for painting full time. She currently lives in Easton\, CT. She is an internationally recognized art photographer with an extensive multi-national exhibition record. She holds an MFA from Yale University\, a BFA from\nMinneapolis College of Art & Design\, as well as a Forensic Photography Certification from Metro-Dade in Miami Florida. \nAngela’s work has been exhibited in many galleries and museums including The Guggenheim Museum\, The Whitney Museum\, The National Museum of Women in the Arts\, The Art Institute of Chicago\, Yale University Art Gallery\, The Walker Art Center\, The Israel Museum in Jerusalem\, Musee de l’Elysee in Lausanne in Switzerland\, Museum of Modern Art (MAC/VAL) in Paris\, and the Wellcome Trust Collection in London. She was featured in the Whitney Biennial in 2006. Her work appears in many books including ReGeneration\, 50 Photographers of Tomorrow (Thames & Hudson)\, and Role Models (Scala). She recently produced the cover image and story for Time Magazine’s first issue covering the CoronaVirus Pandemic. Other publications include New York Times Magazine\, Harper’s Bazaar\, Exit\, Wired\, Art Pulse\, and Mossless. She has received awards including Women in Photography LTI Lightside Grant\, Bush Fellowship\, McKnight Fellowship\, Jerome Fellowship. Her work is included in many public and private collections including those of the Art Institute of Chicago\, The Whitney Museum of Art\, Yale University Art Museum\, The Israel Museum\, General Mills\, Sir Elton John\, Anthony Podesta\, Andrew Hecht and Peter Norton. \nCurrently\, Angela is working on a series of portraits through a two-way mirror titled Slow Tears & Fast Prayers. She is inviting people to come sit for a moment of vulnerability and to share a deep part of themselves while listening to a short playlist that each sitter has created for themself. Three portraits from this series were exhibited in The Juried Member Show at The Gallery at Yellow Studio in November-December 2024.

One enchanting evening.  \nFeaturing\nBarri Leiner Grant\nAimee Pokwatka\nNan Mutnick\nJeanne-Marie Fleming\nMolly Felde\n\n \nHonorable Mentions\nGaby Gold\nJudy Shemtob \nJoin your Yellow Studio writing colleagues and other writers from the community as they read from their original work. \nHosted by current and former Yellow Studio Authors-in-Residence\, Jessica Rao and Ines Rodrigues\, five pieces will be selected from the first twenty submissions received by February 10. Submit your work in fiction\, non-fiction\, poetry\, short play\, or memoir. She’s held contributor roles at CNBC and Gannett\, and has overseen communications for Fortune 500 companies. \nIn addition to her media career\, Jessica is the author of three middle-grade books published by McGraw Hill. She has performed at Writer’s Read\, a live essay reading series\, and her work appears in two 650 Anthologies — At the Bar and Back to High School. Jessica honed her creative writing skills at the Sarah Lawrence Writing Institute and is seeking representation for her first novel\, Tuesday Night Special. \nJessica currently serves as the Vice President of the White Plains Library Foundation Board. She hosts and produces “Books & Brew\,” a new author series benefiting the foundation\, and the live storytelling show\, StoryBOOM. Jessica was an Author-in-Residence at Yellow Studio from September through December\, 2024. She now has a studio at Yellow Studio. \nAbout Ines Rodrigues \nInes Rodrigues is a writer and teacher who holds an MFA in Fiction Writing from Columbia University. She published her first novel\, Days of Bossa Nova\, (Black Opal Books) in 2017. She’s the former editor of Scarsdale Living Magazine and since 2015 she has been curating The Scarsdale Salon\, a semestral literary event\, in partnership with the Salon de Belleville (Paris\, France) and Scarsdale Public Library. Her short fiction was published in The Plentitudes Literary Journal\, Tint Journal\, and 650 Where Writers Read Anthology – At the Bar. Her translation work was published in the Word for Word Anthology 2023. \nSince 2016\, Ines Rodrigues has been working as a creative writing instructor at the Writing Institute/Sarah Lawrence College\, Westport Writers’ Workshop\, and Bronxville Adult School.
