The exhibition investigates the transformative power of creative trust\, showcasing dynamic abstract landscapes that emerge when artistic control gives way to intuitive expression. “Sweet Surrender” chronicles Caracappa’s artistic evolution as she abandons rigid creative constraints to embrace a more fluid\, meditative practice\, working barefoot in her studio with music as her guide and allowing intuition and energy to direct her process. \nThe works showcase Caracappa’s unique blend of design sensibility and abstract expression. The exhibition features custom copper and wood sculptures designed by the artist\, complementing her paintings created with acrylics\, inks\, oil sticks\, and charcoal that reveal glimpses of beautifully dyed canvas beneath textured layers. The film is a French romantic drama written and directed by Céline Sciamma. \n\n\nFilm premise—France\, 1770. Marianne\, a painter\, is commissioned to do the wedding portrait of Héloïse\, a young woman who has just left the convent. Héloïse is a reluctant bride to be and Marianne must paint her without her knowing. She observes her by day\, to paint her secretly. \n\n\nThis film can be watched on HBO Max\, Hulu and Apple TV. SUMMARY:Writing Club: Writers on Writing - From Creation to Press
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \nJoin us for a collaborative discussion with writers on getting their ideas to paper. Everyone has a different journey and while writing can seem like a solo adventure\, there is a whole community of writers that can help us on our writing odyssey. \nLauren Porté-Schwarzfeld will lead our discussion with local authors Lauren Acampora\, Jimin Han\, Heather Harpham and Nancy Torres on topics ranging from the ups and downs of the creative process to the nitty-gritty path to publishing. The talk will be followed by an opportunity to ask questions and chat with the authors. \n  \nAbout the Authors \n\nLauren Acampora is the author of four books of fiction: The Wonder Garden\, The Paper Wasp\, The Hundred Waters\, and The Animal Room\, a forthcoming collection of linked stories. Lauren’s work has won or been nominated for the GLCA New Writers Award\, the Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize\, the Story Prize\, and the New England Book Award\, and she’s been named an Artist Fellow in Fiction by The New York Foundation for the Arts. Her writing has appeared in publications such as The Paris Review\, New England Review\, Missouri Review\, Guernica\, and The New York Times\, and will be anthologized in The Best American Short Stories 2025. She lives with her family in Katonah.\n \n\nJimin Han is the author of A Small Revolution and The Apology\, a Barnes and Noble Discover Pick; named a best audiobook of the year by Booklist\, a best book of the summer by the LA Times\, Vanity Fair\, Shondaland\, Apple Books and more. Additional writing of hers can be found in Poets & Writers\, Literary Hub\, Catapult\, and other publications. She teaches at The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College and community writing centers. Her work has been supported by the New York State Council on the Arts. Dreamt I Found You\, her new novel\, is forthcoming in April 2026. \nHeather Harpham is a writer and theater artist whose fiction\, essays and reviews have appeared in The Guardian\, Slate\, Parents\, MORE Magazine\, Water~Stone Review and Red Magazine in the UK. Her debut memoir\, Happiness: The Crooked Little Road to Semi-Ever After\, was a Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club selection. She teaches in the MFA Writing Program at Sarah Lawrence College\, where she is currently the Strachan Donnelley Visiting Professor in Environmental Writing. Heather’s writing also includes works for the stage\, primarily six solo plays\, the most recent of which\, BURNING\, toured nationally. Originally from northern California\, Harpham now lives in New York\, a short walk from the Hudson River\, with her family. \nNancy Torres is an elementary educator and meditation guide. She received a B.A. in Corporate Communications from Baruch College\, City University of New York\, and received an M.A. in Childhood Education and Special Education from New York University. Nancy speaks both English and Spanish and in 2022 she published the children’s book\, Say It With Me (Dilo Conmigo). The exhibition investigates the transformative power of creative trust\, showcasing dynamic abstract landscapes that emerge when artistic control gives way to intuitive expression. “Sweet Surrender” chronicles Caracappa’s artistic evolution as she abandons rigid creative constraints to embrace a more fluid\, meditative practice\, working barefoot in her studio with music as her guide and allowing intuition and energy to direct her process. \nThe works showcase Caracappa’s unique blend of design sensibility and abstract expression. The exhibition features custom copper and wood sculptures designed by the artist\, complementing her paintings created with acrylics\, inks\, oil sticks\, and charcoal that reveal glimpses of beautifully dyed canvas beneath textured layers. The exhibition presents a spectrum of emotional and visual experiences\, from light and ethereal compositions to rich\, moody landscapes\, each reflecting Caracappa’s philosophy of “following the energy of what lights you up.” Through this creative surrender\, the artist discovered not chaos\, but a textured peacefulness filled with sustained delight\, inviting viewers to consider their relationship with letting go and trusting the creative process. \nView and purchase artwork from the exhibition here. Based in Katonah\, New York\, she holds a BS from Providence College and a degree in interior design from Parsons. After leaving her corporate career at Morgan Stanley\, Caracappa has dedicated herself to creating energetic art and guiding women to curate soul-filled homes through intentional design. She currently serves on the board of the Katonah Museum Artists’ Association\, and her work is held in private collections nationwide. Notable recent exhibitions include her solo show “Possibilities” at The Gallery at Yellow Studio in 2023.

In 2017\, she transitioned into full-time coaching as an executive coach to senior leaders of progressive sector organizations through The Management Center\, where she serves as an adjunct coach today. She then created her own practice\, JCF Coaching in 2018. \nToday she is a somatic coach\, certified by Strozzi Institute\, and works with those who are seeking personal transformation and healing\, and the ability to have a broader positive impact in the world. Belonging may manifest as comfort or conflict\, as intimacy or distance\, as visibility or erasure. \nBelonging is both a condition and a question. It describes our ties to place\, community\, and history\, while also exposing the fragility of those bonds. Tina finds joy in learning and discovering\, which she makes her routine by connecting and supporting women at Yellow Studio. \nTina has an MA in Museum Studies with a concentration in Contemporary Art from NYU and a BA in Art History with minors in Architecture and French from Trinity College in Hartford\, CT. \nTina worked at Pace Gallery\, Sean Kelly\, James Cohan and D’Amelio Terras\, plus interned at numerous museums including the MoMA\, Guggenheim and Whitney. She also worked as a Project Manager at Pentagram. Most recently\, she did a stint at The Aldrich in Ridgefield and volunteered at the Katonah Museum of Art. Tina has served as a juror for exhibitions with the National Association of Women Artists\, Katonah Museum Artists’ Association and Rowayton Arts Center. She is currently a board member of the Katonah Museum Artists’ Association. \nTina lives in Pound Ridge with her husband and their two young sons.

Running from October 18 to November 15\, 2025\, this evocative exhibition presents artist Jennie Carr’s comprehensive love letter to Italy through three distinct artistic approaches: candid street photography\, abstract works on maps and architectural drawings\, and pop art-inspired paintings that celebrate Italian everyday life. Other publications include New York Times Magazine\, Harper’s Bazaar\, Exit\, Wired\, Art Pulse\, and Mossless. She has received awards including Women in Photography LTI Lightside Grant\, Bush Fellowship\, McKnight Fellowship\, Jerome Fellowship. Her work is included in many public and private collections including those of the Art Institute of Chicago\, The Whitney Museum of Art\, Yale University Art Museum\, The Israel Museum\, General Mills\, Sir Elton John\, Anthony Podesta\, Andrew Hecht and Peter Norton. \nCurrently\, Angela is working on a series of portraits through a two-way mirror titled Slow Tears & Fast Prayers.
