SUMMARY:Artist Talk: Soli Pierce
DESCRIPTION:The Gallery at Yellow Studio presents an artist talk with Soli Pierce on Sunday\, October 18\, 2026 at 3pm\, the closing day of Traces of the Infinite\, a small group exhibition featuring the work of Helena Palazzi\, Soli Pierce\, and Lara Saget\, on view through October 18\, 2026. \nPierce builds her work from the materials of the natural world\, stone\, wood\,  and metal\, treating found and raw matter as a starting point rather than a finished thing. Her practice sits within an exhibition that brings together three artists who share an interest in a rawness of material and form\, and a refusal to treat separation as final\, exploring what lies beneath the visible surface of a work and the moments when the boundaries we take for granted begin to give way. \nJoin us in The Gallery at Yellow Studio for this closing day conversation with the artist. \nYou can preview and purchase artwork from this exhibition here. In the “Collections” dropdown menu\, please select “Traces of the Infinite.” \nAbout Soli Pierce \nSoli Pierce is an interdisciplinary artist whose work spans sculpture\, encaustic painting\, photography\, installation\, and sound. Her practice explores how light\, material\, and atmosphere shape perception\, memory\, and inward reflection. She is known for her immersive sculptural environments and encaustic paintings that incorporate organic matter and recurring circular motifs. Her work has been the subject of recent solo exhibitions at KinoSaito Arts Center\, ArtsWestchester Gallery\, Hammond Museum\, and BAU Gallery\, with a 2025 artist-in-residence at KinoSaito and Jentel\, and a 2026 artist-in-residence at Tongue River. Pierce has received grants from ArtsWestchester and NYSCA\, and her work has appeared in The New York Times\, The Village Voice\, and Ars Electronica.

SUMMARY:Book Club: Furious Violet by Sarai Walker
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Book Club at Yellow Studio on Tuesday October 20 at 6:30pm. We will be discussing Furious Violet by Sarai Walker. \nThere will be lively discussion\, questions posed and answered and time to connect with fellow YS Members. \nThis is a zero pressure book club – didn’t quite finish the book? Come anyway. \nHosted by Fran Hauser & Emily Winograd Leonard. \nLight refreshments will be available. \nMember RSVP required. \nThis book is available for purchase at Bedford Books! You can also purchase the book on the Bedford Books website here and have it shipped to you. \n  \nAbout the Book \n“Outrageously entertaining.” —New York Times \nFrom the author of the bestselling phenomenon Dietland comes a razor-sharp\, subversive thriller about motherhood\, obsession\, and the stories we tell ourselves to survive. \nViolet “West” Shelley\, a self-described “low-brow” crime journalist\, has unwillingly spent her life in the spotlight\, as the only daughter of a legendary poet and feminist icon who died tragically young. Now as West approaches fifty—burned out\, creatively blocked\, and far older than her mother ever was—she retreats to her desolate Colorado hometown to finish a long-overdue book about the Crying Killer\, a serial killer who sobs for his mother after committing his crimes. \nBut what begins as a bid for solitude quickly spirals into something far more sinister. A stalker emerges—mysterious\, relentless\, and disturbingly intimate—claiming that West is their mother; yet West knows this is impossible. As threatening messages escalate and her carefully constructed life starts to unravel\, West is drawn into a chilling psychological web where the boundaries between fiction and reality collapse. \nIs she being watched? Hunted? Or is her own mind turning against her? \nGripping\, provocative\, and laced with pitch-black humor\, Furious Violet is a psychological thrill ride and a fierce exploration of motherhood\, fame\, and the question of who can lay claim to women’s legacies. Sarai Walker delivers a heroine unlike any other: damaged\, defiant\, and utterly unforgettable. \n  \nAbout the Author \nSarai Walker is the author of Furious Violet\, The Cherry Robbers\, and Dietland\, which was adapted as a television series for AMC in 2018. Her work has been published in more than a dozen countries. She has a cat named after Shirley Jackson. \n
