Our imagination follows\, the end of longer days\, the beginning of magical times. Beginning\, ending\, continuing. Light and dark\, day and night\, autumn turns to winter. What stories come with that? \nDo you have a story about twilight? Changing light? Final embers or seeds of hope? She currently lives in Easton\, CT. She is an internationally recognized art photographer with an extensive multi-national exhibition record. She holds an MFA from Yale University\, a BFA from Minneapolis College of Art & Design\, as well as a Forensic Photography Certification from Metro-Dade in Miami Florida. \nAngela’s work has been exhibited in many galleries and museums including The Guggenheim Museum\, The Whitney Museum\, The National Museum of Women in the Arts\, The Art Institute of Chicago\, Yale University Art Gallery\, The Walker Art Center\, The Israel Museum in Jerusalem\, Musee de l’Elysee in Lausanne in Switzerland\, Museum of Modern Art (MAC/VAL) in Paris\, and the Wellcome Trust Collection in London. She was featured in the Whitney Biennial in 2006. Her work appears in many books including ReGeneration\, 50 Photographers of Tomorrow (Thames & Hudson)\, and Role Models (Scala). She recently produced the cover image and story for Time Magazine’s first issue covering the CoronaVirus Pandemic. Other publications include New York Times Magazine\, Harper’s Bazaar\, Exit\, Wired\, Art Pulse\, and Mossless. She has received awards including Women in Photography LTI Lightside Grant\, Bush Fellowship\, McKnight Fellowship\, Jerome Fellowship. Her work is included in many public and private collections including those of the Art Institute of Chicago\, The Whitney Museum of Art\, Yale University Art Museum\, The Israel Museum\, General Mills\, Sir Elton John\, Anthony Podesta\, Andrew Hecht and Peter Norton. \nCurrently\, Angela is working on a series of portraits through a two-way mirror titled Slow Tears & Fast Prayers. She is inviting people to come sit for a moment of vulnerability and to share a deep part of themselves while listening to a short playlist that each sitter has created for themself. Three portraits from this series were exhibited in The Juried Member Show at The Gallery at Yellow Studio in November-December 2024.

DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nJoin us on Saturday November 8 at 2pm to learn more about the artistic practice\, process\, influences and more of Jennie Carr.\n  \nAbout the Exhibition\nThe Gallery at Yellow Studio presents Scent of the Sea / Profumo del Mare\, a vibrant collection of paintings and photographs that transports viewers to the sun-drenched coastlines of Italy’s Amalfi Coast. Running from October 18 to November 15\, 2025\, this evocative exhibition presents artist Jennie Carr’s comprehensive love letter to Italy through three distinct artistic approaches: candid street photography\, abstract works on maps and architectural drawings\, and pop art-inspired paintings that celebrate Italian everyday life.\n \nScent of the Sea / Profumo del Mare showcases Carr’s ability to find magic in both the monumental and the mundane. Working from her Ridgefield studio\, Cloud Farm Industries\, she transforms everyday Italian experiences into vibrant celebrations of color and memory. Her unique approach of painting on found materials creates a dialogue between the structured and the spontaneous\, much like Italy itself. The exhibition invites viewers to breathe in the profumo del mare and experience Italy through Carr’s optimistic lens\, where quiet street corners hold as much beauty as dramatic coastlines\, and the comfort of familiar rituals becomes art worthy of celebration.\n  \n\nAbout the Artist \nJennie Carr creates vibrant acrylic paintings and photography\, celebrating color\, light\, and social commentary through abstract\, pop-inspired\, and figurative styles. Born in New York City and raised in Scarsdale\, New York\, she studied acting in several programs while cultivating her visual art practice as a largely self-taught artist. Carr transitioned to full-time art-making in 2021\, founding Cloud Farm Industries in North Salem\, New York\, and currently works from Ridgefield\, Connecticut. \nEstablishing herself as an actively exhibiting professional artist\, she has recently presented solo exhibitions at Spy Pond Art Gallery\, Newcastle\, Ireland (2023); The Kitchen Table\, Pound Ridge (2024–2025); and Ridgefield Guild of Artists satellite gallery at Jill Rae Designs\, Ridgefield (2025). As a member of the Carriage Barn Arts Center and the Ridgefield Guild of Artists\, she explores themes of social justice and humor\, most notably in her Equality Pin Up Girls series featured in Ms. Magazine. All 3 films will fall under the umbrella of a female-centric theme. \n  \nFilm lineup: \nReneepoptosis\, Japan/USA\, 2018\, Best Animation at Sundance\, Renee Zhan’s short film is a provocative exploration of self. Three Renees go on a quest to find God—who is also Renee. \nI’m Not a Robot\, Netherlands/Belgium\, 2025\, Winner of the 2025 Academy Award for Best Live-Action Short. Victoria Warmerdam’s short film\, a series of failed Captcha tests plunges a woman into a strange new reality. \nBus 44\, China and Hong Kong\, 2001\, In Dayyan Eng’s short film\, set in the outskirts of a small town\, a bus driver and her passengers encounter highway robbers. “Bus 44” carries a universal theme that travels across all boundaries and societies\, trespassing the dark side and bright side of human behavior. \nBeth will send links to the films a week or so before November 12 so that people can watch beforehand if they’d like (watching before is not required though). \n\n\nThis session’s conversation will be led by Beth on topics from the film such as theme\, style\, genre and more! \nThe Yellow Studio Film Club is a group of women who are interested in watching and discussing female-centric stories that have been on the big screen. She has performed at the New York Comedy Festival at Caroline’s on Broadway\, Broadway Comedy Club\, The Stand and more. She has garnered over 20 million views on social media and is regularly seen on Scary Mommy. Alyce has been featured on CBC Radio\, Today Parents and NBC New York. Alyce founded one of the biggest parenting platforms\, MOMCOMNYC\, which Vogue named among the top 6 funniest parenting Instagram accounts.\n \nRobin Reitzes is a professional singer and publicist. She is the lead vocalist for the widely popular local band Reservoir Road\, and formerly fronted Willin’\, which opened for The Spin Doctors in the fall of 2022. Known for her versatility\, Reitzes covers artists ranging from Carole King\, Stevie Nicks\, and Norah Jones to Lady Gaga\, Pink\, and more. She also has a passion for performing cabaret-style Broadway ballads that showcase her vocal range and emotional depth.\nReitzes began singing at age five\, when she earned a spot in the prestigious St. Louis Children’s Choir. After moving to Chappaqua at age 10\, she continued her musical journey\, beginning classical vocal training with Berenice “Bunny” Bramson at age 12. In her early 20s\, she began performing professionally at renowned Manhattan venues like Don’t Tell Mama and The Elbow Room.\nWhether belting out a soulful anthem or a tender ballad\, Reitzes’ goal remains the same: to connect with her audience and deliver a truly memorable performance.\n  \nTambra McCarthy is an award-winning branding visionary\, storyteller\, and wellness creator. After leading The McCarthy Group on Madison Avenue\, she followed her passion for authentic experiences\, launching Salty Bath in 2016\, a holistic self-care subscription box recognized by People Magazine and The Doctors. In 2018\, she opened KAHLO Collective\, Northern Westchester’s first eco-luxe lifestyle destination\, blending artisan goods\, mindful workshops\, and pop-up events. She seeks to create pieces that are not only visually striking but also resonate emotionally with her audience\, whether through a painting or a performance.\nJulie studied jazz guitar in college\, and though she pursued a career in physical therapy\, her dual inter- ests in art and music have always been intertwined. She holds two Master’s Degrees: one in Applied Physiology and another in Physical Therapy.\nOriginally from Rye Brook\, NY\, Julie now resides in Katonah\, NY\, where she serves as the President of the Katonah Museum Artists’ Association. Her leadership in the arts community is a testament to her commitment to fostering creativity both on and off the guitar. \n  \nLuz Michelle is a bold\, fearless force in comedy\, known for her sharp wit and distinctive style. After graduating from the University of Michigan\, Jessica studied at the School of Visual Arts and at the Art Students League in New York\, with legendary painter Hananiah Harari\, later continuing her studies with acclaimed portrait and landscape artist Andrew Lattimore. DESCRIPTION:The Gallery at Yellow Studio presents Boundaries\, a group exhibition bringing together four women artists whose conceptually driven practices explore the spaces where systems break down\, blur\, or transform. Through photography\, drawing\, printmaking\, and mixed media\, Beth Dary\, Amy Kupferberg\, Rita Maas\, and Mary Negro each use abstraction as a tool to process complexity\, whether examining information systems\, environmental change\, material transformation\, or the uncertainties of contemporary life. The exhibition runs from January 10 through February 8\, 2026. \nPlease join us for the opening reception on Saturday\, January 10\, from 4 to 6pm. \nTogether\, these artists reveal how abstraction becomes a language for understanding our increasingly complex world\, where familiar systems no longer hold\, and new forms emerge from breakdown and transformation. Beth Dary examines the liminal space between nature untouched by human intervention and the “new nature” we create\, drawing inspiration from environmental phenomena like CO2 bubbles in Arctic ice and fractal patterns in urban runoff. Amy Kupferberg transforms discarded materials into handmade paper\, using repetitive mark-making as visual affirmation\, exploring replication and regeneration through sustainable practices. Rita Maas constructs imagery within predetermined systems\, embracing chance and disorder while investigating how information is received\, filtered\, and retained. She has received grants from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and The Manhattan Community Arts Fund\, and fellowships through Yaddo and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. \nAmy Kupferberg earned her BA from Bard College and her MFA from Pratt Institute. Her work has been exhibited in solo shows at Pratt Institute\, Saint Peter’s Church in NYC\, and Gallery In The Square in Texas\, and in group exhibitions including Miami ArtBasel Wynwood Lofts. Kupferberg lives and works in the Mid-Hudson Valley. \nRita Maas is a visual artist working in photography\, drawing\, and printmaking. A 2023 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellow in Printmaking/Drawing/Book Arts\, her work is included in collections at the Museum of Fine Arts\, Houston\, The Center for Creative Photography in Tucson\, and The Griffin Museum of Photography. Maas lives and works in the Hudson Valley\, NY. \nMary Negro creates abstract drawings and mixed media collages inspired by current events in America. Her work has been exhibited at the Frances M. The landscapes are her perspective of architecture and nature\, that explore feelings and mood as well as sparking memory and inspiration.
