I look forward to welcoming you and sharing my space.” \nMember RSVP required.  \nNorth Salem address will be sent after RSVPs are collected.  \n  \nAbout Carol Bouyoucos  \nCarol Bouyoucos\, from North Salem\, NY\, is a contemporary American artist whose work explores the intersection between nature and technology. Carol’s digital photographic works evoke a romanticism and nostalgia of nineteenth century landscape painting\, though created with distinctly 21st century tools. She has exhibited her work internationally\, and considers her most successful efforts to be her collaborations with fellow artists and curators. Recent exhibitions include\, Chroma Fine Art Gallery\, Lush\, Katonah\, NY; The Flinn Gallery\, Biophelia\, Greenwich\, CT; The Gallery at Yellow Studio\, Lost and Found\, Cross River\, NY: Atlantic Gallery\, Interior Wild\, NY\, NY. Carol holds a BFA from The University of Michigan’s School of Art And Design. \nArtist Statement \nUntil recently\, I lived on a 156-acre nature preserve with a pond\, marshland\, protected species\, and aggressively invasive plants. I observed an untamed landscape that sparked complex narratives in my work.  \nMy practice emerged from a growing sense that traditional photography\, my primary medium\, could not be pushed far enough to realize these stories. Post-photographic processes\, both digital and AI-driven\, allow me to articulate worlds shaped by an unsettling pastoral narrative.  \nMy “hypothetical” landscapes arise in the space where nature is not only observed\, but reimagined through rapidly evolving systems. By embracing the instability of both the natural world and the digital image\, my work situates itself in a restless\, shifting terrain. Giving myself permission to develop this new visual language has been a significant departure\, opening the work to forms that feel less descriptive and more speculative.  \n

SUMMARY:Nature & Sustainability Club: The Art of Botanical Pressing with Marguerite Alpert
DESCRIPTION:For all interested artists of nature: this class on Wednesday July 15 at 6pm is an opportunity to learn how to press fresh flowers using a wooden flower press (yours to keep). We will focus on a variety of techniques and materials for success. There will be plenty of opportunities for questions and discussions on the history\, science\, and design of pressed botanical art. Prepare for a creative\, relaxing\, and informative experience! \nAll materials will be provided. Be sure to bring your creative ideas and questions. \nAll participants may bring a favorite fresh flower or leaf from their garden\, if they wish. \nSpace is limited to 10 participants.  \nOrganized by Sarah Ehrlich & Mona Lipson \n  \nAbout Marguerite Alpert \nMy artwork transforms pressed and dried botanical materials into compositions that invite close observation. I deconstruct flowers into their smallest components – individual petals\, sepals\, and fragments and use these elements as building blocks for larger designs. Through this process\, I aim to present familiar natural materials in unexpected ways\, encouraging viewers to see them with fresh eyes.  \nViewers frequently mistake my botanical compositions for watercolor paintings or pen and ink drawings\, only to discover with delightful surprise that they are observing actual plant matter. This moment of revelation consistently draws people closer to examine the work more carefully\, a response that lies at the heart of my artistic intention.  \nMy practice centers on revealing the extraordinary within the ordinary\, highlighting the intricate details in nature that we often overlook. The transformation that occurs during the pressing and drying process is itself a form of artistic alchemy. Fresh flowers and leaves give up their three-dimensional form\, becoming flattened through the application of pressure and time. This metamorphosis reveals hidden structures: the delicate network of veins threading through petals becomes visible\, colors also shift and intensify in unexpected ways\, and textures emerge that were previously obscured by the plant’s fresh form.  \nMy work celebrates both the fragility and resilience of botanical life. My goal is to slow down the viewer’s gaze to foster a deeper appreciation for the complex beauty of nature that surrounds us every day.

Curated by Tina Villaveces\, the exhibition runs from May 30 through June 28\, 2026. \nFiber Forward presents work that navigates the boundaries between tradition and innovation\, material and meaning. The exhibition showcases fiber art as a site of experimentation\, examining how artists are reimagining fiber as a vehicle for critical inquiry\, spatial intervention\, and personal expression. The works on view include sculpture\, installation\, embroidery\, weaving\, and mixed media\, alongside activist craft kits\, quilts made from repurposed domestic textiles\, and large-scale fiber installations. Many of the artists work with found\, secondhand\, or repurposed materials\, bringing new life to what has been discarded or overlooked.

The docent will share the stories behind the House’s carefully assembled treasures\, including Asian and Renaissance art\, period rooms imported from European villas and châteaux\, and architectural details that reveal the Rosens’ global tastes and vision for a home that celebrates beauty and culture. \nThe Signature Tour will take visitors through key rooms of the House\, offering insight into the personal history of the Rosen family and the cultural significance of the spaces they inhabited. DESCRIPTION:Upstate Art Weekend (UAW) is an artist-forward\, region-rooted arts platform dedicated to amplifying artists\, organizations\, and creative communities throughout the Hudson Valley and Catskills\, while fostering meaningful exchange with aligned creative communities beyond the region. Curated by Tina Villaveces\, the exhibition runs from May 30 through June 29\, 2026\, with an opening reception on Saturday\, May 30\, from 4 to 6pm. An artist talk is scheduled for Saturday\, June 27\, at 2 pm\, as part of Upstate Art Weekend 2026\, in which The Gallery at Yellow Studio is a participant. \nFiber Forward presents work that navigates the boundaries between tradition and innovation\, material and meaning. The exhibition showcases fiber art as a site of experimentation\, examining how artists are reimagining fiber as a vehicle for critical inquiry\, spatial intervention\, and personal expression. The works on view include sculpture\, installation\, embroidery\, weaving\, and mixed media\, alongside activist craft kits\, quilts made from repurposed domestic textiles\, and large-scale fiber installations. DESCRIPTION:Looking to reconnect with nature and other like-minded Yellow Studio women? Join the Nature & Sustainability Club on Monday June 8 at 6pm for a peaceful evening walk along the Cross River. \nThis riverside trail winds gently through Ward Pound Ridge Reservation\, following the original Cross River as it curves through forest and wetland. Early June is a beautiful time to be out here: the woods are quiet\, the water is moving\, and the landscape is blooming. We’ll enjoy an approximately one-hour hike at a relaxed\, conversational pace\, with time to pause and take in the scenery. \nWard Pound Ridge is Westchester County’s largest park\, spanning over 4\,000 acres of protected land. The reservation preserves diverse ecosystems and historic waterways\, offering a rare sense of calm and continuity with the natural world. DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, May 16 at 2pm to learn more about the artistic practices\, process\, and influences of Giselle Landers and Alissa Leigh.  \nAbout the Exhibition \nThe Gallery at Yellow Studio presents Said in Color\, an exhibition of paintings and wall relief sculptures by Alissa Leigh and Giselle Landers\, on view April 25 to May 24\, 2025. Color is a language\, and these two abstract painters each speak it with a different accent\, arriving at bold\, expressive work from opposite directions.  \nBoth artists draw color inspiration from the everyday world: textiles\, product packaging\, movie posters\, and the textures of city life. Leigh builds her mixed media works around a loosely drawn grid\, layering and scraping surfaces so that earlier marks shape what follows. Landers approaches abstraction through the lens of graphic design\, moving each piece from sketch to digital process before it reaches canvas or three-dimensional form. Her paintings and wall relief sculptures pull from a wide visual archive\, including modernist architecture\, hieroglyphics\, and pop culture imagery. The contrast between their methods is as much the point as the connection. \nAbout the Artists \nGiselle Landers is an artist and former graphic designer whose abstract paintings and wall relief sculptures explore the intersection of art and design. She earned a BFA from Syracuse University and a Graduate Diploma in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Arts in London\, and has exhibited in group shows in London\, New York\, and Connecticut. In 2026\, she was selected for the Canopy Program\, where she mentors under artist Erika Ranee. Landers serves on the board of the Katonah Museum Artists’ Association and lives and works in Greenwich\, Connecticut. \nAlissa Leigh is a mixed media abstract painter based in Bedford\, New York. She has presented solo exhibitions at Chroma Gallery in Katonah\, NY\, shown in group exhibitions throughout the greater New York and Connecticut area\, and has exhibited in the Armonk Outdoor Art Show for three consecutive years. Her work is held in private collections across the United States and Europe.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Yellow Studio Nature & Sustainability Club on Wednesday\, May 13 at 6pm for Re-Wilding Workshop: Weave\, Gather\, Create with Rebecca Rivard. This hands-on outdoor workshop is centered on creativity\, sustainability\, and connection to the natural world. \nSet against the landscape of Ward Pound Ridge\, this special gathering invites you to slow down and create a small woven pouch using thrifted and secondhand yarns and fibers\, along with simple recycled cardboard looms. \n As part of the experience\, we’ll spend time exploring and gently foraging for natural materials—twigs\, grasses\, leaves\, and found elements—that can be woven into your piece or used as unique closures and finishing details. \nInspired by the idea of re-wilding\, this workshop encourages a return to intuitive making\, using what is around us and reimagining discarded materials with care and creativity. No prior weaving experience is needed—just a willingness to explore\, experiment\, and connect. \nParticipants will leave with a one-of-a-kind woven pouch and a renewed appreciation for the beauty of natural and repurposed materials. \nSpace is limited to 12 participants.  \n  \nAbout Rebecca Rivard \nRebecca Rivard is a multidisciplinary artist\, painter\, and composer working across paint\, sound\, and mixed media. Rooted in experimentation and intuitive process\, her work often incorporates natural and repurposed materials\, guided in part by an interest in “rewilding”\, returning materials and methods to a more tactile\, instinctive state. She brings this same spirit of curiosity and openness into her workshops\, encouraging participants to explore\, experiment\, and engage with materials in new ways.

This artwork should be work that you are eager for the community to see.
