Half-Hour Portraits by Jessica Miller

Yellow Studio 792 Route 35, Cross River, New York

Join us on Saturday Saturday April 13 for this unique opportunity – to have your portrait painted by local Artist Jessica Miller.

Each 7 x 5 inch expressionist portrait will capture the subject’s likeness and mood, painted in one half-hour sitting.

All are welcome to sit for a portrait, including children accompanied by an adult.

Each portrait is $250.

There will be 6 portrait sessions.

Opening reception for Mary Ellis Now

Yellow Studio is thrilled to present Mary Ellis Now, a captivating solo exhibition featuring the latest abstract expressionist works by accomplished artist Mary Ellis. Mary Ellis Now is an invitation to immerse oneself in the present moment and experience the raw, unfiltered beauty of abstract expressionism. The show runs from April 13 to May 10, with an opening reception on Saturday, April 13 from 4 to 6pm.

Story Slam + Jam Salon

Join Us For An Inspiring Night of Local Storytelling, Music and Art!

Enjoy an electrifying evening of creativity and self-expression at Yellow Studio in collaboration with Creative-in-Residence Tami McCarthy for our first-ever Story Slam + Jam Salon!

An immersive experience where spoken word, music and art come together through soulful performances of stories, songs, and art. Against the backdrop of nature's renewal with Spring’s arrival and the energetic abstract paintings of Mary Ellis, we will explore the theme of REBIRTH, tapping into the blossoming of new beginnings and the awakening of fresh perspectives. 

Our modern Salon is about celebrating our local storytellers, singer/songwriters, and artists as well as fostering deeper connections within our creative community.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Art Club Excursion to the Met

Join us for a captivating journey with the Art Club as we delve into the vibrant legacy of the Harlem Renaissance at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We are looking forward to seeing and discussing the current exhibition, The Harlem Renaissance and Transatlantic Modernism. Learn more about the exhibition here and below.

We will plan to have lunch together at the Met. Please RSVP if you are attending and then email Rebecca at rebeccarivard@me.com if you would like to be included in the lunch reservation/headcount.

Those who would like to travel by car with other Yellow Studio Members, please meet at Yellow Studio at 9am.

At least one car will depart NYC at 2:30pm and head back to Yellow Studio.

Earth Day by the Nature & Sustainability Club – Nature’s Palette: Puddle Printing Workshop with Rebecca Rivard

Join us on Earth Day April 22 to create stunning, one-of-a-kind prints that celebrate the beauty of our planet.  In this workshop led by Rebecca Rivard, we will explore ink floating and water marbling techniques that can be used to create prints from puddles and natural pools of water.  Learn how to capture the essence of nature's palette and harness the dynamic interplay of ink and water.
This paid workshop is open to all 18+ women and non-binary members of our Community.

Learn to Crochet with Loop de Loop’s Cassie and Jen

Crochet isn't just about making; it's about creating connections, both with the yarn in your hands and the community around you. It's a portable skill that offers relaxation, a sense of accomplishment, and an endless possibility of projects.

In this beginner-friendly workshop, you'll get started on creating a handmade lightweight scarf, and walk away with the skills and materials you need to finish it. Don't worry if you've never crochet before; this event is designed with true beginners in mind. All it takes is a bit of practice and a desire to learn, and you'll get the hang of it in no time! Cassie and Jen will guide you through the basic stitches and techniques needed to start your crochet journey.
