SUMMARY:Yellow Studio Networking Club
DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to share the Networking Club at Yellow Studio! \n\n\n\nOld School networking was business focused and transactional and doesn’t serve everyone… so we’re going to change things up around here. The Networking Club at YS will be about connection\, collaboration and creation. We’ll host quarterly evening events (the first one is free) and 1-2 casual drop-in meet ups throughout the month. \n\n\n\nThis is for everyone! You don’t have to be in business\, you don’t have to have a traditional (or non-traditional) job\, you don’t have to be a parent\, you don’t have to be looking for “something more” or trying to figure out what’s next. This is a place to show up and meet people\, exactly as you are\, exactly where you are. \n\n\n\nOur first event on October 26th at 7:30pm is all about INTRODUCTIONS. Something we like to call The Get Curious Experience where we move beyond some of the standard\, boring questions of an introduction and start to normalize the questions that might actually let us know who we’re really talking to… and give us the opportunity to be ourselves. \n\n\n\nQuestions are a great way to understand who you’re talking to\, and to find some common ground. To be filled with curiosity and engage in conversations with thoughtful questions where answers are eagerly awaited. \n\n\n\nAnd also\, (as a whole\, as a society) we are usually terrible at it. \n\n\n\nWhen we see kids\, we often ask\, what do you want to be when you grow up? \n\n\n\nWhen we see high school students we often ask\, where do you want to go to college? \n\n\n\nWhen we see adults\, we often ask\, “what do you do?” \n\n\n\nIt’s easy\, it’s safe\, it feels like the thing you’re supposed to ask… \n\n\n\nBut we miss so much magic with these questions. \n\n\n\nWe miss so much humanness. \n\n\n\nWe have so much opportunity for connection through the questions we ask\, and for the most part\, we’re missing the moment.  \n\n\n\nThere is so much to learn and gain from one another\, but perhaps we need a little more practice normalizing some better greeting and introduction questions. \n\n\n\nAs we begin this new spin on an old concept\, we’ll start with this most basic of interactions\, and get curious about what networking and human connection could be like if we didn’t lead with our job titles\, accolades and degrees. \n\n\n\nThis is a free event for Yellow Studio Members. Please RSVP below. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout Lauren Schwarzfeld \n\n\n\nLauren Schwarzfeld\, best-selling author of Unboxed: Essays on Learning to Trust Myself So I Could Stop Doing the Things I Hate\, is a writer\, and coach whose work has also appeared online and in the best-selling anthology The Addiction Diaries. Lauren is endlessly curious\, a lover of books\, travel and new adventures. Lauren is the Director of Marketing + Publicity for Rise Books\, a publishing company dedicated to supporting emerging authors while bringing their radical works of inspiration to life. She works with authors and clients to share their stories in authentic and inspiring ways. As Lauren has spent the past 25 years navigating through various industries\, careers and jobs\, she’s realized that the most powerful part of a storied work history is the wide variety of human connection. These experiences have led her to prioritize “who we are” over “what we do”\, something she brings into every new interaction. Lauren lives in Mt. Kisco with her husband\, three children and two dogs. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout Jess Watts \n\n\n\nJessica Watts is a local real estate agent specializing in sustainability. As a real estate investor\, contractor’s daughter\, and former LEED AP (United States Green Building Council)\, Jess believes sustainability\, homes and community are directly linked and focuses on events that bring people together. Real Estate is more than homes\, it is people. Jess works to bring people together throughout the year\, and is excited to help grow a community where people can come as they are and connect with others. When she isn’t out and about\, she is nestled in her home in Pound Ridge with her husband\, son and 4 pups.

SUMMARY:Opening Reception for Tricia Caracappa: Possibilities
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday October 21 from 4 to 6pm to celebrate Tricia Caracappa and view the paintings in her solo exhibition\, Possibilities. \n\n\n\nAll are welcome. \n\n\n\nOur opening reception at Yellow Studio coincides with the Katonah Art Walk on October 21 from 3 to 7pm. We will be showing a selection of paintings by Tricia Caracappa at Our North during the Art Walk. Our North is located at 43 Katonah Avenue. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nArtist Statement \n\n\n\nI capture delight and cherish the journey when I stand in front of my canvas. Music is my muse and dance is my brushstroke. There is no hiding my joyful spirit – the art is my mirror. Intersecting brushstrokes and colors reflect my energy. Open to wonder\, I allow my curiosity to take me on an adventure where I find freedom in the abstract and inspiration in the everyday. I respond to marks and composition until I see and feel the balance and beauty that captures this delight. My art is an invitation to move up close with curiosity and step back with wide eyes\, exactly as I did. It is a gentle nudge\, encouraging viewers to chase what lights them up and see the boundless delightful possibilities within themselves.  \n\n\n\nArtist BioTricia Caracappa is an artist and designer who finds joy and journey in her abstract paintings. Growing up and currently living in Katonah\, New York\, she was introduced to the arts at a young age\, exploring every medium available from painting to pottery\, printmaking and dance. Tricia continued to study studio art focusing on figure drawing while she received a BS in Systems Science from Providence College. Tricia studied at the Art Students League of New York and received an AAS in Interior Design from Parsons School of Design while also building a twenty year career in global financial services. After retiring from Morgan Stanley\, Tricia began her design business and reignited her passion for painting. Tricia’s practice often carries her across media and subjects where she finds groundedness in form and freedom in the abstract. Her work reveals her love of color\, line and gesture. She believes that art is our daily reminder to choose joy and live in the present with ease and delight. In addition to Yellow Studio Gallery\, her work has been exhibited in numerous group shows and events in the tri-state area and is in private collections. Tricia currently serves on the board of the Katonah Museum Artists’ Association. Tricia’s studio is tucked into the 19th century brick lined Yellow Monkey Village in Cross River\, New York\, right next to where she completed her Yellow Studio Artist Residency.

SUMMARY:Artist Talk: Courtney Alan Rossy
DESCRIPTION:Join us to hear from the Artist about the inspiration and process behind her paintings in What It Leaves. \n\n\n\nThere will be time to ask your questions and speak with Courtney Alan Rossy after the talk. \n\n\n\nThis is a free event. Please RSVP. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“My paintings are titled after they are finished. I paint from remembered landscapes that I carry with me – and the remembered feelings of them\, which of course become transformed. I could certainly never mirror nature. I would more like to paint what it leaves with me.” ~ Joan Mitchell \n\n\n\nArtist Statement \n\n\n\nMy work investigates memory and perception through colorful abstract paintings. My inspiration stems from observations of time spent surrounded by nature in local landscapes\, contemplating the complexity that surrounds us\, moments I value as an active part of my creative process. Each painting is a reflection of my interest in exploring the intricate connections between humans and the natural world. Trying to create the feeling of being immersed in nature\, each work encourages the viewer to look deeply and actively participate. Through layers of paint\, texture and movement\, I depict the moments that linger and the energy that is left behind. My work invites the viewer to contemplate their own relationship with the natural world and consider their role in creating a more harmonious and sustainable future. \n\n\n\nArtist Bio \n\n\n\nCourtney Alan Rossy is a painter and art educator living in Bedford\, New York. She received a BA from Boston College with a double major in Studio Art and Communications\, focusing on visual communication and design. SUMMARY:Yellow Studio Art Club asks What Inspires You?
DESCRIPTION:Yellow Studio Art Club hosted by Tricia Caracappa and Rebecca Rivard \n\n\n\nCalling all artists and art lovers alike. We are looking to build a community of creators and appreciators of all artistic disciplines\, from visual and performing artists to those in culinary and crafting fields and everything in between. Each regular meeting will provide an opportunity for a casual creative outlet (think still life station or clay making) while we share and discuss our various passions. Once our collective goals are established\, we will plan future meetings with occasions for critiques\, field trip adventures and more.  \n\n\n\nJoin us for our first Art Club meeting on September 19 at 6:30pm in the gallery at Yellow Studio.  \n\n\n\nThe theme of this first meetup will be What Inspires You and the format will be Show & Tell. We ask that you SHOW us something that INSPIRES you (think art book\, an image on your phone\, an artwork\, etc.) and TELL us one idea you would hope we can facilitate through the Art Club (field trip destination\, talk topic\, workshop idea\, etc.). This will help us all get to know one another\, what lights us up and where we hope to go on this creative journey together.  \n\n\n\nYou can read a little more about Tricia and Rebecca here on the Yellow Studio website.

SUMMARY:Opening Reception for Courtney Alan Rossy: What It Leaves
DESCRIPTION:Yellow Studio is excited to kick off the autumn exhibition season with WHAT IT LEAVES\, a showcase of colorful abstract paintings by Courtney Alan Rossy\, a local Artist from Bedford\, NY.  \n\n\n\nThrough layers of paint\, texture\, and dynamic strokes\, Rossy captures lingering moments and their lasting energy\, evoking a sense of being fully immersed in nature. This approach encourages viewers to engage deeply and actively with the artwork\, prompting them to explore its depths. \n\n\n\nPlease join us for the opening reception of WHAT IT LEAVES on Saturday September 9 from 4 to 6pm.  \n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nCourtney Alan Rossy \n\n\n\n“My paintings are titled after they are finished. \n\n\n\nBio \n\n\n\nCourtney Alan Rossy is a painter and art educator living in Bedford\, New York. She received a BA from Boston College with a double major in Studio Art and Communications\, focusing on visual communication and design. SUMMARY:Watercolor Workshop with Rebecca Rivard
DESCRIPTION:Join Rebecca Rivard for a morning of exploring the magic of wonder! We will begin by exploring the medium of watercolors and all of its amazing qualities. We will leave room to build additional layers of either watercolor or other media provided. There will also be opportunity to explore homemade watercolor pigments made from all natural ingredients like flowers and berries. This workshop is designed for beginners as well as more experienced painters who want to get lost in the joy of experimenting and explore the process more than the product. \n\n\n\nLight bites and beverages will be served. \n\n\n\nLimited to 10 attendees. \n\n\n\nAbout Rebecca Rivard \n\n\n\nAfter receiving my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst\, I pursued a career in the non-profit world\, developing art programs for children of all ages as well as creating training for public school teachers. I enjoyed the hands-on nature of all of my work\, but most especially when I could share my passion first hand with the children I met. Their curiosity and sense of wonder was a sustaining spark for my own artistic explorations. \n\n\n\nWhen motherhood called\, my full time job became watching my own three remarkable children grow. I continued to explore various kinds of art\, dabbling in some children’s book illustration work and other opportunities for design and creativity. As a classically trained pianist I ran my own piano studio for several years as well. I loved sharing this side of the artistic world with all of my talented students. It was in large part due to their creativity and passion for learning that I decided to return to the classroom myself\, studying composition and digital music production at Juilliard’s Evening Division. I especially enjoyed combining the world of music and visual arts in my work scoring for pictures. This launched my creative endeavor\, 52songsforu\, a music video short project with the aim of creating 52 original pieces of music set to videos shot by me (check it out here: 52songsforu). \n\n\n\nI am welcoming this next stage in my life as an opportunity to pursue my art more vigorously. There is magic to be found in self discovery\, in learning new skills and expanding what it means to call myself an artist.

SUMMARY:Opening Reception for Megan Cedro: Meant to Be
DESCRIPTION:Join us to celebrate the Artist and enjoy a first look at her paintings in Megan Cedro’s Meant to Be. \n\n\n\nYellow Studio will once again partner with Our North in Katonah for the Katonah Art Walk taking place from 3 to 7 on June 24. Be sure to stop by and check out more of Megan Cedro’s paintings at this location (43 Katonah Avenue).  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe women in Megan Cedro’s paintings are constantly evolving\, simultaneously with the Artist. Cedro’s inspiration stems from her background in fashion and makeup combined with a deep love and understanding of animals and nature. Her expressive line work blurs the boundaries between reality and fiction. The contrasting palettes of muted tones with dark\, moody colors create a sense of tension and energy in her paintings. Creativity and nature are mysterious to Cedro and this outlook leads her to approach her paintings without a plan. As she adds color and texture to a canvas\, the composition unfolds. Drawing from her own experiences and observations of the world around her\, Cedro creates imagery that is personal yet universal. The subtle but penetrating gaze of her ethereal figures alludes to the mixture of emotions that defines womanhood. Cedro invites the viewer to reflect on their own experiences and to consider the broader social and cultural forces that shape our lives. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout Megan Cedro \n\n\n\nMegan Cedro is a self-taught\, Bedford-based artist. Her highly expressive and haunting images have captivated viewers for nearly 15 years. Cedro’s work has been exhibited in galleries and shops in Brooklyn\, Manhattan and Westchester County. Megan has a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design and worked as a MAC makeup artist for 6+ years in New York City. It was working as a makeup artist\, when Cedro first started painting\, using actual makeup. She then decided to pursue her art career full time and got her first art studio in 2009. In 2010\, she exhibited her solo show at Yashir Gallery in Greenpoint Brooklyn with a sold out show. Megan continued to showcase and sell her works at various galleries all across NYC including Tria Gallery in Tribeca and Pierogi in Williamsburg BK\, as well as privately. After moving to Bedford in 2017\, she has exhibited with The Bedford Art Show and The Katonah Museum of Art Gala and Auction. Her most recent solo show “AMUSE” at CB Gallery in Katonah in 2021 was a highlight of Cedro’s Career\, gaining several new private collectors in the area. With each new work\, she continues to push the boundaries in her body of work\, challenging herself and her viewers to see the world in new and exciting ways.

SUMMARY:Sensory Art Saturdays with pop art! kids
DESCRIPTION:Join Ms. Rosie from pop art! kids for our Saturday morning children’s programming. \n\n\n\nFor children ages 1.5 to 5 years. \n\n\n\nAn art class quite unlike any other\, you can expect to be welcomed into a child-led experience where a new weekly theme will encourage imagination and exploration. \n\n\n\n5 multi-sensory stations including a dry sensory bin\, a messy sensory station\, a playdough table\, a makers project and a collaborative experience will be inviting your little artist to explore freely each week\, with new materials\, textures and themes. \n\n\n\nThis Saturday session will include an interactive storytime\, where using the Whole Book Approach we include dramatic play\, art and sensory stations to dive into a book from the Picture Book children’s storybook collection. Today’s book is Scaredy Bath by Zoe Foster Blake. \n\n\n\nPre-order Scaredy Bath from Picture Book for pickup at Yellow Studio on June 17. \n\n\n\nLimited to 14 kids. \n\n\n\nChild of a Member: $30 \n\n\n\nChild of a Non-Member: $35 \n\n\n\n10% sibling discount. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout pop art! kids \n\n\n\nPop art! kids is a sensory art and learning studio. A studio for children ages 1-5 and their grown ups! Every class at pop art! kids is a caregiver and child class. A community for children and parents (or caregivers) to build a creative relationship with one another. Greatly inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach\, we practice open ended sensory play and following the children’s lead to encourage creativity\, dramatic play and problem solving. Thoughtfully curated sensory rich stations are set up to visually please our little artists\, to give them moments of joy and to create magical memories in.  \n\n\n\nAbout Ms. Rosie \n\n\n\nA good place for us to start\, is for you to understand the type of person I am. I get completely overjoyed by glitter\, think more is more when it comes to glitter\, and it couldn’t bother me less than having glitter stuck to my hands. I give toddlers high fives when they’re covered in paint instead of giving them a wet wipe. I help take their socks off when they try climbing into a sensory bin so they can feel with not only their fingers but their toes too. And no matter how many times I get handed a playdough cupcake\, I will pretend to eat it as enthusiastically as if it were the first time. This is why I left the advertising world as a graphic designer at Mother NY\,  and said goodbye to my role as a senior designer with J.Crew’s creative marketing team\, because what I have found complete joy in is creating magical moments for toddlers and their parents. Pop Art! Kids came to life during the height of covid. I had 3 children under 5\, preschools\, playgrounds and playdates were put on hold but I wanted a safe\, outdoor option to be able to give my children and our community a creative outlet.
