Yellow Studio is thrilled to present Mary Ellis Now, a captivating solo exhibition featuring the latest abstract expressionist works by accomplished artist Mary Ellis. Mary Ellis Now is an invitation to immerse oneself in the present moment and experience the raw, unfiltered beauty of abstract expressionism. The show runs from April 13 to May 10, with an opening reception on Saturday, April 13 from 4 to 6pm.

In this exhibition, Mary Ellis’s intuitive mark-making and layered brushwork bypass the conscious mind and speak directly to the heart. Ellis’s process of adding and removing marks, textures, and colors allows the past to show through and enhance the present in her effort to demonstrate that we are the sum of all of our experiences. Each painting’s complex surface history engages the viewer emotionally and viscerally.

About Mary Ellis

Mary Ellis is an abstract expressionist painter. She received her BFA in the 1960s from Pratt Institute where she was fortunate to study under Alex Katz, Richard Lindner, Mercedes Matter and Robert Mallory. For over 40 years, Mary has been internationally recognized for her Pop Art icons that appear on thousands of gift, souvenir, and regional products. She is a graphic artist as well as an abstract painter.
