Join us for the next Film Club on Thursday, January 15 at 7pm at Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville to view the selected film, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You (2025), written and directed by Mary Bronstein, a New York-based filmmaker known for her raw style.
The film stars Rose Byrne with a notable cast including Conan O’Brien, Christian Slater, A$AP Rocky, and Danielle Macdonald.
The film will be followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Mary Bronstein.
Film premise – With her life crashing down around her, Linda (Rose Byrne) attempts to navigate her child’s mysterious illness, her absent husband, a missing person, and an increasingly hostile relationship with her therapist (Conan O’Brien). Watch a trailer here.
The film had its world premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival on January 24, 2025, and a domestic release by A24 on October 10, 2025, to positive reviews. Byrne’s performance is receiving universal acclaim, winning the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, and nominations for a Golden Globe Award and Critics’ Choice Award for Best Actress.
The Yellow Studio Film Club is a group of women who are interested in watching and discussing female-centric stories that have been on the big screen. Each month, a different film will be chosen – selections will vary in terms of genre and time period but will always involve a female-centric theme and/or be written and/or directed by a woman. Once a month the group will meet to discuss the various aspects of the chosen film. Meetings will be informal and open to any YS Member who has a passion, interest and/or curiosity about movies.
