The women in Megan Cedro’s paintings are constantly evolving, simultaneously with the Artist. Cedro’s inspiration stems from her background in fashion and makeup combined with a deep love and understanding of animals and nature. Her expressive line work blurs the boundaries between reality and fiction. The contrasting palettes of muted tones with dark, moody colors create a sense of tension and energy in her paintings. Creativity and nature are mysterious to Cedro and this outlook leads her to approach her paintings without a plan. As she adds color and texture to a canvas, the composition unfolds. Drawing from her own experiences and observations of the world around her, Cedro creates imagery that is personal yet universal. The subtle but penetrating gaze of her ethereal figures alludes to the mixture of emotions that defines womanhood. Cedro invites the viewer to reflect on their own experiences and to consider the broader social and cultural forces that shape our lives.
