Nature & Sustainability Club Workshop: Stitching & Mending for Decoration with Arielle Toelke

In this two-hour workshop on Wednesday April 30 at 6:30pm we will learn basic sewing stitches that can be used for mending, repairing, and embellishing. No prior sewing experience needed. We will start by creating a sampler of stitches. Next we will create simple artworks to stitch on fabric that can be used to decorate or mend clothing or to be made into textile artworks. In addition to mending, stained clothing can be upcycled by hiding flaws with embroidery.

Participants can bring items they wish to mend, but it is not necessary. All materials are supplied and everyone will leave with a stitch guide, embroidery hoop, and a stitched artwork.

No sewing experience required.

Limited to 12 attendees.

Intro to Encaustic Photography Workshop with Rebecca Dunn

This beginner's Encaustic Photography Workshop is a great introduction if you have never worked with encaustic wax before or if you’ve worked with wax but haven’t tried incorporating photos into your work.

During Rebecca Dunn's, 2.5 hour, hands on workshop, each participant will have time to work on 3 of their own photographs that have been mounted to 5 x 7” wood panels.  The workshop will focus on prepping your photos properly, layering the wax on, adding color, and techniques for making texture, as well as where to find materials.
