Film Club

The Yellow Studio Film Club is a group of women who are interested in watching and discussing female-centric stories that have been on the big screen. Each month, a different film will be chosen- selections will vary in terms of genre and time period but will always involve a female-centric theme and/or be written and/or directed by a woman. Once a month the group will meet to discuss the various aspects of the chosen film.  Meetings will be informal and open to anyone who has a passion, interest and/or curiosity about movies.

Our first meeting on Tuesday December 17 at 7:30pm will be a time for all interested parties to introduce themselves and to share what they're hoping to get out of the group and to discuss screening options - from occasional theater outings to the flexibility of watching at home. We will also go over a curated list of possible films and discuss future meeting formats.

Film Club Discussion of Poor Things

For our second meeting we will be discussing the selected film, Poor Things (2023) directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.
This Oscar winning film is an account of the fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Emma Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe).
