The Gallery at Yellow Studio presents Life Still, a group exhibition featuring Noa Charuvi, Allison Green, Marie McNicholas, Lily Morgan, Sophie Reisz, and Lindsey Cherek Waller, on view October 24 through November 29, 2026. Bringing together painting, sculpture, and installation, the exhibition approaches objects and interiors, some of art history’s most enduring subject matter, from a distinctly contemporary viewpoint, nodding to the traditional format while asking what we notice and what we value. Join us for an opening reception on Sunday, November 1, from 4 to 6pm. 

These artists turn their attention to things that are easily passed by or dismissed: household wares and garments, sequins, discarded and mundane objects, unfinished architectural spaces, and a single radish or a wedge of blue cheese. Some works draw directly on history. Reisz looks to seventeenth century Dutch and Flemish still life painting, Waller works within the traditions of still life, and memento mori, and Green draws on folk textile practices such as quilting, embroidery, and dressmaking. Others extend the idea of still life into new territory, from Charuvi’s paintings of architectural sites and interiors to McNicholas’s juxtapositions of discarded objects and nature to Morgan’s accumulations of reflective, synthetic materials. In their hands, an overlooked object or an empty interior becomes a way into larger questions about memory, value, and how we relate to one another.

About the Artists

Noa Charuvi is a visual artist based in Brooklyn, NY, with an M.F.A. in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts and a B.F.A. from the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem. Her work has been exhibited internationally at venues including The Bronx Museum of the Arts, the Haifa Museum of Art, and the Mishkan Museum of Art, and her paintings appear in “Landscape Painting Now,” published by D.A.P. and Thames & Hudson. She received a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant in 2018 and has attended residencies including Art Omi, Yaddo, and the Keyholder Residency at the Lower East Side Printshop.

Allison Green grew up in rural Vermont, was taught traditional fiber craft from an early age, and holds a BA with honors in art history from Skidmore College. She came to New York in 2016 to build costumes for Broadway, including Phantom of the Opera, Hamilton, and Moulin Rouge, and has worked as a costume and prop artist for Sesame Street since 2022, earning an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Costume Design and Styling in 2025. She received a Support for Artists grant from the New York State Council on the Arts for 2025 to 2026 and has been an Artist in Residence at Byrdcliffe Artist Colony, Art on the Block, School of Visual Arts, and The Vermont Studio Center.

Marie McNicholas is a painter and muralist based in Mamaroneck, New York, where she has been a resident for over 25 years. She paints large-scale murals and portraits, working frequently in acrylic on wood panel, linen, and board. Her work has been featured in regional exhibitions across Westchester County, including Shared Visions and exhibits at ArtsWestchester’s The Arts Exchange.

Lily Morgan is a Connecticut-based artist and educator working primarily in oil painting, with a focus on the careful observation of everyday objects that are overlooked, decorative, or culturally dismissed. She received her B.S. in Art Education from Messiah College and her M.A. in Studio Practice at Teachers College, Columbia University, and is a full-time high school art teacher in Connecticut. She was a resident artist at The Norwalk Art Space from 2022 to 2023, and her work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout Connecticut and the surrounding region.

Sophie Reisz is a New York-based oil painter whose work explores the beauty and quiet drama of everyday objects, drawing on the visual language of 17th-century Dutch and Flemish still-life painting. Largely self-taught, she began painting in 2022 and has pursued private study with artists including Justin Wood, along with workshops with still-life painters Jeffrey Larson, Natalie Featherston, and Carlo Russo. Her paintings have been acquired by private collectors and shown in regional exhibitions including the Armonk Outdoor Art Show, and she is currently completing a large-scale triptych commissioned by private clients in Manhattan.

Lindsey Cherek Waller is a queer, non-binary artist, born and raised in the rural working class Midwest. Their work explores themes of grief, memory, rage, and desire through traditional practices of portraiture, still life, and memento mori. They earned a BFA from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, spent their early career in rural Minnesota, and currently live and work in Charlotte, North Carolina.
