  • Writing Club: Query Workshop with Aimee Pokwatka

The Writing Club is excited to host our first query workshop with Aimee Pokwatka, Yellow Studio Author-in-Residence.

Are you struggling with the idea of the query letter, have no idea how to compile comps, what a synopsis should look like, or where to even begin? Aimee Pokwatka will be leading a discussion on the ins and outs of successful strategies for pitching your work to agents and editors. Bring your writing tools, query/proposal drafts and questions! Free for Members / $20 for Non-Members

  • Writing Club: Tools for Success – Media Training with Fran Hauser in Conversation with Lauren Schwarzfeld

Imagine you finally have your book out in the world and you're going on tour, or that you've been invited to talk about your work on your favorite podcast - are you ready? How do you prepare for an interview? What takes a mediocre interview to an amazing interview that gets thousands (millions?) of views? How do you ensure that you'll get invited back to talk about your second book?

The Writing Club is excited to host Fran Hauser, who has not only done all of the above, but also regularly interviews writers and artists on her podcast, Bookbound, and elsewhere. Lauren Schwarzfeld will be moderating. Lauren recently produced a TEDx event where she coached speakers to engage and inspire. Fran and Lauren know what makes a successful interview and are ready to share.

  • Submissions: Writers’ Salon

As the season changes, so does the light. Our imagination follows, the end of longer days, the beginning of magical times. Beginning, ending, continuing. Light and dark, day and night, autumn turns to winter. What stories come with that?

Do you have a story about twilight? Changing light? Final embers or seeds of hope? We want to read it.

Broad interpretations, as well as all genres welcome -- fiction, non-fiction, short play, poetry.

Submissions accepted from September 1 to September 22.

Five pieces will be selected from the first twenty-five submissions received by September 22. The winners will read their work at the Writers’ Salon at Yellow Studio, in person, on Wednesday, October 29 at 7pm.
