Open Call: In Bloom at Yellow Studio

Yellow Studio is constantly evolving and exploring new opportunities. Flowers in bloom serve as a visual reminder of the beauty in growth through change. In June, we are celebrating the third anniversary of Yellow Studio with additional space to display art and expand our engagement with women owned businesses in the community. In this spirit, Yellow Studio invites women Artists in the community working across all mediums to submit their floral artwork - work that is inspired by or a depiction of flowers. Submission fee: Free for Members of Yellow Studio / $25 for Non-Members

YS Member Art Show Submissions

From Saturday June 7 to Saturday July 5, The Gallery at Yellow Studio will present our Member Art Show.
The opening reception will take place on Saturday June 7 from 4 to 6pm.

To submitting Artists: please select artwork that pushes the boundaries of your style and technique and stands out in your body of work. This artwork should be work that you are eager for the community to see. Please don't submit artwork that has been shown locally in the past year. You must be a Yellow Studio Artist Member to submit artwork to this open call (this includes Supporter Members who are professional Artists).
The submission period is April 22 to May 6.

Nature & Sustainability Club Workshop: Stitching & Mending for Decoration with Arielle Toelke

In this two-hour workshop on Wednesday April 30 at 6:30pm we will learn basic sewing stitches that can be used for mending, repairing, and embellishing. No prior sewing experience needed. We will start by creating a sampler of stitches. Next we will create simple artworks to stitch on fabric that can be used to decorate or mend clothing or to be made into textile artworks. In addition to mending, stained clothing can be upcycled by hiding flaws with embroidery.

Participants can bring items they wish to mend, but it is not necessary. All materials are supplied and everyone will leave with a stitch guide, embroidery hoop, and a stitched artwork.

No sewing experience required.

Limited to 12 attendees.

We'll use the first hour for writing, followed by discussion. If you're interested in turning your thoughts into words–but struggle to put pen to paper–these 'butt in seat' accountability sessions are a great way to get started!

Intro to Encaustic Photography Workshop with Rebecca Dunn

This beginner's Encaustic Photography Workshop is a great introduction if you have never worked with encaustic wax before or if you’ve worked with wax but haven’t tried incorporating photos into your work.

During Rebecca Dunn's, 2.5 hour, hands on workshop, each participant will have time to work on 3 of their own photographs that have been mounted to 5 x 7” wood panels.  The workshop will focus on prepping your photos properly, layering the wax on, adding color, and techniques for making texture, as well as where to find materials.

Writing Club: Tools for Success – Media Training with Fran Hauser in Conversation with Lauren Schwarzfeld

Imagine you finally have your book out in the world and you're going on tour, or that you've been invited to talk about your work on your favorite podcast - are you ready? How do you prepare for an interview? What takes a mediocre interview to an amazing interview that gets thousands (millions?) of views? How do you ensure that you'll get invited back to talk about your second book?

The Writing Club is excited to host Fran Hauser, who has not only done all of the above, but also regularly interviews writers and artists on her podcast, Bookbound, and elsewhere. Lauren Schwarzfeld will be moderating. Lauren recently produced a TEDx event where she coached speakers to engage and inspire. Fran and Lauren know what makes a successful interview and are ready to share.

Still Standing Monologues at Yellow Studio

Still Standing Monologues is BACK at Yellow Studio—bigger, bolder, and unapologetically female. This isn’t stand-up. This is storytelling with guts. A powerhouse lineup of women taking the mic, owning their stories, and delivering raw, unfiltered monologues packed with heart, humor, and a little hell-yeah energy.

And the conversation doesn’t stop there—after the performances, we’re opening it up to an intimate Q&A, where the audience gets to dive deeper, connect, and keep the dialogue going.
