On Friday, April 10, the Yellow Studio Art Club is heading to Metro Art Studios in Bridgeport, CT — and we’d love for you to join us!

We’ll spend the morning exploring some of the building’s 38 artist studios, browsing the shop, and taking in the current exhibition in the Crown Gallery: Twist and Shout.

Twist and Shout brings together six artists — Alex Ceppi, John Guzman, Louisa Pancoast, Melissa Stern, Yue Yuan, and Tamsen Williams — whose figures bend, twist, and fracture in ways that communicate what words simply can’t. Rooted in Expressionism and moving fluidly between abstraction and figuration, the work uses distortion and grotesque caricature as a kind of visual shorthand for emotion, tension, and identity. Some pieces lean into dark humor; others are raw and unfiltered. Curator Ellen Hawley weaves it all into a broader conversation about movement, resilience, and the expressive power of the human figure. Twist and Shout runs through April 25.

Come for the art, stay for the good company. This one promises plenty of both.
