Submissions: Small Wonders at Loaf on Paper
Since June 2025, Loaf on Paper has been a cozy stationery and café space in the heart of Williamsburg, built for calm and creativity, a place to journal, sip coffee, and discover a small treasure to take home. It offers a thoughtfully curated collection of Japanese paper goods, craft supplies, and unique lifestyle items, alongside specialty coffee and seasonal baked treats. Now, in collaboration with Yellow Studio, a community-driven art gallery and creative hub, that spirit is moving to the walls.
Whimsy isn’t about being silly for silliness’s sake. It’s seeing the world sideways, finding wonder in the ordinary. As Yayoi Kusama put it: “Polka dots are fabulous.”
That’s the spirit we’re after: artwork that plays, that surprises, that lets curiosity lead.
We’re calling for original, whimsical artwork, 12 x 12 inches or smaller, priced at $500 or less. Any medium is welcome, as long as it feels light, imaginative, and true to your voice.

Exhibition Format: This is a retail exhibition where selected artworks will be available for immediate purchase and pickup. Unlike traditional gallery shows, this is an ongoing exhibition integrated into a retail environment.
Exhibition Dates: October 3, 2026 to January 17, 2027

Application Requirements:
We’re looking for original small artworks in any medium, 12 x 12 inches or smaller, priced at $500 or less. Wall sculptures permitted, maximum depth of 4 inches.
Your Submission Must Include:
- 1-3 artwork images
- Artist Statement tailored to your submitted artwork
- Artist Bio
- Submissions without a statement or bio will not be considered
- Submissions will only be accepted through the Artwork Archive open call. No email submissions will be reviewed.
Setting up a free account on Artwork Archive to submit to calls:
- Submit 1-3 images of original artwork
- All images must be digital files: JPEG format, 300 DPI minimum
- File size: maximum 5 MB per image
- Name files as follows: LastName_FirstName_ImageTitle.jpg
Artwork Size Requirements
- Maximum size: 12″ x 12″
- All dimensions refer to the actual artwork size
- 2-dimensional artwork must be framed and wired (no french cleats, no sawtooth hanging hardware)
Medium Requirements
- All media accepted, artwork must hang on wall: painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, mixed media, collage, wall sculpture, etc.
- All prints must be limited edition (no open-ended editions)
- Limited edition prints must include edition information
- No reproductions (this includes giclee prints)
Submission Fee
- For Yellow Studio Members: Free submission
- For Non-Members: $25 submission fee, non-refundable*
- For students with a valid student ID: $15 (please email a photo of your student ID to info@yellowstudiony.com).
Pricing Requirements
- All artwork must be priced at $500 or under
- Yellow Studio receives a 30% commission on the listed artwork price (i.e. for an artwork priced at $100, the Artist receives $70 and Yellow Studio receives $30)
