  • Opening Reception: Fiber Forward

The Gallery at Yellow Studio presents Fiber Forward, a group exhibition featuring 38 women and non-binary artists working in fiber. Curated by Tina Villaveces, the exhibition runs from May 30 through June 29, 2026, with an opening reception on Saturday, May 30, from 4 to 6pm. An artist talk is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, at 2 pm, as part of Upstate Art Weekend 2026, in which The Gallery at Yellow Studio is a participant.

Fiber Forward presents work that navigates the boundaries between tradition and innovation, material and meaning. The exhibition showcases fiber art as a site of experimentation, examining how artists are reimagining fiber as a vehicle for critical inquiry, spatial intervention, and personal expression. The works on view include sculpture, installation, embroidery, weaving, and mixed media, alongside activist craft kits, quilts made from repurposed domestic textiles, and large-scale fiber installations. Many of the artists work with found, secondhand, or repurposed materials, bringing new life to what has been discarded or overlooked.

  • Upstate Art Weekend

Join us for an Artists' Talk during UAW on Saturday June 27 at 2pm.

Upstate Art Weekend (UAW) is an artist-forward, region-rooted arts platform dedicated to amplifying artists, organizations, and creative communities throughout the Hudson Valley and Catskills, while fostering meaningful exchange with aligned creative communities beyond the region. Founded in 2020, UAW began as an annual festival celebrating the cultural vibrancy of Upstate New York. Today, UAW functions as both its flagship annual event and a broader platform—supporting artists, strengthening cultural networks, and deepening public connection to art, people, and place through multiple initiatives. At the core of UAW’s work is a commitment to centering artists’ voices and practices while honoring the organizations, institutions, and individuals who shape regional creative ecosystems. UAW advances this mission through artist-forward programming and region-rooted partnerships that prioritize care, reciprocity, and long-term impact.
